Dr. Oakley performed cataract surgery on my right eye earlier this year. The surgery went OK I guess, but there were some very uncomfortable after-effects (feeling like something was stuck in my eye) for about a week. I also was not prepared for the very poor vision that I experienced in that eye for about two weeks, owning to the fact that my cornea was scratched during the procedure and remained swollen for a couple of weeks. That is one of the things that can happen. On my follow-up visit with her, we discussed the same surgery for my left eye. I asked if the same problems were likely to occur with the other eye. (I figured she would know the statistics, at least.) I felt that her response, ' I don't know; maybe,' was a little flippant. After all, it's my EYE! It's important. I don't think it's too much to ask that doctors take some time with explanations and show some empathy. I had another surgeon in the practice do the second eye, and had no problems.

Dr. is Okay, Wait Time is Not
Dr. Oakley seems capable and has treated my glaucoma successfully for the past three years since we moved here, but the office wait times are bad. I was in the office 1:15 minutes recently for what should have been a 10 minute pressure check visit, and often the time with the doc feels rushed. Too many patients crowded into the available time slots.

Dr. Oakley performed cataract surgery on my right eye first, then on my left eye about a month later. She is professional, easy to talk to, available, VERY competent, caring. I had no problems either time and quick recoveries. I would recommend her to my closest family members without hesitation. If I could rate her higher than “5” stars, I would.
