Not my favorite
I needed a new doctor, for insurance purposes, who was within the UNMH network. Pros: He was in network, he was accepting new patients, and he has a medical license. He appears to have some medical competency. Cons: He has a horrible bed side manner. I hate seeing him. He is very slow to respond to the simplest of requests, like refilling a prescription, and seems unconcerned with patient care. He seems to talk down to patients -- and I have a PhD in related field.I have decided to see my old doctor and just pay out of pocket. That pretty much sums it up.

Very negative experience
I truly was shocked by this doctor’s behavior. He was acting mean, cold, arrogant, had a demeanor as though everything he said was right, and almost as though everyone else was stupid. He seemed to feel very threatened if I attempted to correct any incorrect assumptions he made about my health issues. I was also very uncomfortable by the fact that he would change his answers, or opinions, for what seemed like an attempt to keep an authority or upper hand over me. I do not recommend him, for the main fact being that I strongly feel that he does not seem to be in a mental state to do his job logistically, and is navigating his job through the lends of a warped understanding for his patience.

His medical license should be questioned. He is unconcerned about me.I have never encountered any doctor like this. He was rude and did not believe me about my medical concerns, and was only concerned about being sued.

Terrible Physician- Do not see him
I requested to have my TSH and a few other thyroid labs redrawn after receiving a slightly high TSH lab result back. I was instructed by an outside NP and my dermatologist who ordered the labs to see my PCP about the labs and have more done to look into the problem. I myself am a nurse and know how to read lab results so I came in with a plan of what I needed done. Dr Bustos immediately walked in, asked me what I was in for, and when I explained the situation, refused to order labs because it was "too early" stating it had only been 2 weeks. It had been over a month since the labs were drawn. When I asked why, he refused to give me an explanation other than "it's too early". I have a family history of hypothyroidism and many risk factors and possible symptoms of hypothyroidism. Dr. Bustos was arrogant, impatient, and rude. He did not listen to me and incorrectly documented in my chart. He didn't even do an actual physical assessment. Save your time and request a different provider.

Dangerous.
He should not have a medical license. There is something very wrong with him. He changed my medication, which injured my kidneys and made my Blood Pressure abnormally low. His reaction?? "It's very common. Most people recover." Yikes. I think he is dangerous to patients.

Great doctor. He sat down and listened and explained everything to me. I truly felt like he cared about me. I would see him 100 times if it didn’t mean I’d have to be in the hospital.

Rude, arrogant, and uncaring. This was the worst hospital experience in my entire life. Afraid for future patients. I agree with the previous person who left a review. He should not have a medical license in my opinion. Will forever be haunted by this experience. He wanted to push my autistic son out the door as he was screaming in pain because he thought he was "faking it". How does one fake acute pancreatitis. Horrible doctor.

He should not have a medical license to practice. He was rude, uncaring, and did not ever do a physical exam on my daughter, yet said that there was no medical reason she should be in the hospital. She couldn't even walk she was so sick. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. He has no empathy or compassion, and is obviously only doing this to receive a pay check. He puts a bad mark on the medical profession.

Dr Bustos was my doctor when I ended up at Rust Hospital. He answered all my questions clearly & made me feel better about my diagnosis. Doctors in New Mexico are overworked, so I don't blame him for taking awhile to get to me at all! He's a terrific new doctor & I hope he stays in it beautiful state for a long time!
