Doctor who cares
Dr. Chodos is rare physician who takes time to get to know his patient. He leaves plenty of time for discussing your needs and explains everything in detail. Dr. Chodos explains choices and options of treatment in several different ways making sure you are aware of all your options. Once a course of action has been decided Dr. Chodos discusses the procedure in detail in several difference ways, all along the way making sure you understand exactly what will take place. After the procedure he explains the results, again making sure you understand exactly what your results tell us and further courses of action. In my case, without any ego, he recommended that I seek additional treatment from another Gastroenterologist at the U of Penn. After having the additional procedure completed, he had me back in his office spending more time explaining the results and giving me additional information on future treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Chodos.

Personal care - NOT a corporation!
I've had three colonoscopies, etc with Dr. Chodos so far. He is one of the few doctors who has not been assimilated into the medical 'Borg' and I am so grateful for his private practice which truly provides personal care. His office staff is terrific too!

Exceptional Care & Support from Dr. Joel and team
I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Joel and his team, Wendy and Arlene. They provided exceptional care that made me feel at home, even far from my family. As an international student who arrived six months ago, I experienced rectal bleeding. The university doctor referred me to check with a GI (Gastroenterologist) specialist for that issue, and due to the urgency, Dr. Joel (being a GI) saw me promptly. His thorough diagnosis revealed colon cancer.I am deeply thankful for his accurate diagnosis, guidance, and support. I highly recommend Dr. Joel for his exceptional care.

Meticulous
Dr. Joel Chodos it the most thorough Physician i have ever met. He is experienced and his attention to detail is extremely apparent. You will recognize in very short order that his investigation into your health begins the minute you sit down in his office. Your wait time will be short, and you will never feel rushed. You will have a discussion regarding your general health as well as a series of very intimate and very specific questions regarding your current health problems. Over the two years i have been seeing Dr. Chodos, i have come to realize that the discussion and the questions are a major part of the investigation into your health problem. He explains his thoughts and concerns clearly and makes sure you understand them as well. He is very motovated and passionate about his work and thrives at problem solving. Highly rocommend Dr. Joel Chodos.

I had a very positive experience going to see Dr. Chodos. He took the time to get a thorough history of everything going on with me. I never met a doctor who was as thorough and detail oriented as Dr. Chodos. I highly recommend going to see him. His staff is also very kind and easy to work with.

Conscientious physician
Excellent.Spends a lot of time with you. Really listens. Thinks about what you say rather than how quickly they can get you out of office. Holistic in that tries to help you with conditions outside his sub-field, which is good. Have used him on two occasions for procedures, as has my spouse. Writes lengthy reports to your home physician to help them in the work that they do. Highly recommend.

Spectacular!
Dr. Chodos, very unique. I wish he could be duplicated for all medical needs! He personalizes your medical care. When you visit, expect to receive an abundance of information pertaining to your needs. My first visit, he brought me into his office and learned about me and my medical needs. He didn't just look at a file, he actually talked to me to get medical details. I forgot some things in my history, Dr. Chodos explained the importance of including everything, even if I felt it was not importance. After my exam, he gave me options. Dr. Chodos, not a nurse, checked my vitals. Fantastic doctor! I would highly recommend Dr. Chodos, especially if you want and need real, personalized medical attention! Thank you Dr. Chodos!

I have been a patient of Dr. Chodos for close to 20 years and he is by far one of the best. Dr. Chodos is very thorough and will take the time to explain the details every time like you are a new patient - you will never feel being rush. For colonoscopy procedures, and I have had many performed by Dr. Chodos, he will call the evening before and the same evening after to ensure all is well. Dr. Chodos is a highly regarded doctor.

Very Pleased
I have been acquainted with Dr. Chodos for over twenty years. He has performed for me multiple colonoscopies and I will have a second EGD next week. He is meticulous in his preparing me for procedures and follow-up, contacting me at home by phone the evening before and after each. At each visit, he reviews my medical history and current medications. With my permission, he provides my personal physician with a detailed written review of a visit on which I am copied. He explains any recommended procedure or medication treatment beforehand making sure I understand and supplies me with alternatives to consider. He gives detailed answers to questions. He an his staff are professional. The nurses at the Delaware Outpatient Center for Surgery (DOCS) compliment him. I can recommend him without reservation.

Outstanding Doctor That Cares About You
I have been seeing Dr. Chodos for the past 4 years and can say that he is the kind of doctor you want to care for you. He is thorough and detailed and takes the time to explain your options, even for routine procedures. Importantly, he takes the time to get to know you and all patient follow up is handled by him personally. Call him old school but I highly recommend Dr. Chodos and his level of patient care.

Dr. Chodos literally saved my life. I had an endoscopy and two colonoscopies performed along with every available test/analysis to properly assess my gastric issues. He's extremely professional and detailed oriented. Every visit is followed by a comprehensive letter outlining the visit, potential findings, and next steps. Correspondence is also sent to your GP to keep him/her in the loop. I can't thank Dr. Chodos and his staff enough for the exemplary manner in which my situation was handled. I highly recommend him!!!

I've been a patient for 20 years. Due to a genetic condition I've had numerous colonoscopies to remove polyps. I've found Dr. Chodos to be extremely thorough and careful. He made referrals for genetic testing @ Helen Graham Center and specialized treatment at U of P when he thought it advisable. It's a wise man who is willing to get help when he thinks it's needed. I have high confidence in his care.

I've been cared by Dr. Chodos for about 10 years. I wish all my doctors are like Dr. Chodos. He is extremely meticulous in gathering information about your conditions. He repeatedly ensures that you understand all the options available to you for your care. His comprehensiveness can come across sometimes as being excessively intrusive but bear with him and know that the information will be applied towards better care for you. Also, he is the only doctor I've come across who will send you a detailed, written report after every visit. All this cost him a lot more time than all other doctors care to invest in their patients. He is unique and he cares.
