We feel incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Joel Fankhauser as our family doctor! From the very first visit, it was clear that he genuinely cares about his patients. Dr. Fankhauser has a remarkable ability to listen attentively and provide thoughtful, personalized care. He takes the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options in a way that’s easy to understand, ensuring we always feel informed and confident in our healthcare decisions.What truly sets Dr. Fankhauser apart is his warm and compassionate demeanor. I cannot recommend Dr. Fankhauser and his team enough. In the first 4 months of my daughter’s life we have had countless challenges with her health from all angles. They answer every phone call, every message and Dr. Fankhauser always prioritizes time for her care, to problem solve with us as a family, give all available options and provide thorough education and resources to help us make the best decisions for our daughter. We have never been rushed, judged or dismissed and are given dedicated time and attention in every visit. It has been truly a blessing to have him on my daughter’s team. We have felt so cared for, heard and advocated for throughout the many challenges we have faced with our little girl. The set up and approach to health care that is taken at Direct Care clinic is unmatched in the most genuine and authentic approach to medicine that is not limited by restraints of insurance. Highly recommended!

Dr. Fankhauser took the time to explain pertinent information about our child during the appointment. He also listened to our concerns and provided sound recommendations (and a bit of reassurance). We absolutely love him, and cannot recommend him enough.

Dr. Fankhauser is THE best!!!! I appreciate how personable and caring he is. Dr. Fankhauser has been a huge advocate for my health (the best perk to the direct care model imo). If it weren’t for him, I would not have the quality of life I have now. He relentlessly pursued answers and helped me get the care I needed. He is knowledgeable, kind, compassionate and treats me with respect. I now get to enjoy life with my family because of his care for me. I could not thank him enough.

My youngest son was the first in our family to be a patient of Dr Fankhauser, 10 years ago. Now we all are. He clearly cares for every patient - taking as much time as is needed to be thorough and answer all questions, responding to messages outside of business hours, staying up to date on the latest research, making recommendations to specialists when needed, and providing an excellent level of care.

I have had multiple unexplained medical issues for years. Drs have prescribed “bandaids” to treat my various symptoms, but never really looked at my health problems as a whole. After discussing my frustrations with a friend one day, she told me about Dr Fankenhauser and The Direct Care Clinic. I am so grateful that she did! Dr Fankhauser is amazing. His compassion and dedication is second to none. He listens intently and works with you to develop a plan of action that you are comfortable with. I am 100% confident that if there is something to be found, Dr Fankhauser is going to find it. That being said, he is very conservative when recommending testing. I know that if there is a test he thinks I should have, there is a very justifiable reason for doing it, and he will explain it to me. Dr Fankhauser has given me peace of mind when it comes to my health, I know I am in the best possible hands.

So glad we found Dr. Fankhauser! We’re often able to see him same-day, and we’ve never felt rushed or ignored. My kids love him, which is a big deal. We especially appreciate Donna and the nurses there. During COVID, most appointments were outside on good days-sometimes while walking around the lake across from the office. Immunizations can be ready same day-and they’ve been doing those in your car during COVID, too. In summary, my family is so glad we found this office, and everyone there makes it obvious they care about their patients.

We’ve been seeing Dr. Fankhauser for about 3 years now and I can’t say enough about the excellent care we’ve come to know. At my children’s well checks he spends more than an hour checking on growth and development milestones and discussing what we can expect next. I have been beyond thankful for his depth of knowledge and willingness to explain everything, and even answer my silly questions, during the pandemic. He researches current data and advises based on the facts. It is obvious that he loves his work and his patients.

Our entire family sees Dr Fankhauser and we are so thankful for him and his practice. He truly cares about his patients and he has never steered us wrong. We trust him with our kids 100% and he takes the best care of them.

My family has been lucky to have Dr. Fankhauser as our family doctor for nine years. Throughout that time, Dr. Fankhauser has been consistently compassionate, takes time to listen, makes his patients a priority, and we trust he always has our best health interest in mind. Dr. Fankhauser is the best doctor I’ve ever had. He listens well, he’s very knowledgeable about health related issues most primary care doctors aren’t, and he is very patient. I recommend giving Dr. Fankhauser a try as your primary care physician.

I was in Mercy hospital having my gallbladder removed and during recovery, I asked the nursing staff on two separate occations for a referral to a family doctor. Both time the staff glowingly responded Dr. Joel Fankhauser. We've been with Dr. Fannkhauser since before DirectCare. We love him and we also love the whole DirectCare clinic. He came to an oncology appointment for my spouse. He spends the time we'd like. He is truthful and compassionate. I can't recommend more highly.

We went through a torturous experience w multiple doctors who refused to go to bat for our son who needed gall bladder surgery because he was under 17 years of age.. Dr. Fankhouser was an advocate that refused to take no for an answer and took care of Kobie in a miraculous way that made us beyond thankful..

He is a very caring and family friendly Doctor. My daughters love him. He will tell you truth and what you need to do. He is one of the best family Doctors you will ever find.

Dr. Fankhauser has been such an incredible resource for our family. We love the ease of scheduling appointments and asking medical questions and the way he checks in our family if there has been an illness. I was even able to text him from Zimbabwe to get medical advice when I found myself sick in a foreign country. The service Direct Care Clinic offers is invaluable to our family!!!

Dr. Fankhauser has been seeing my family since we moved to NWA several years ago. We moved with him from a hospital clinic when he opened his Direct Care practice. He was wonderful then, but now he has more time to spend with us and we never feel rushed in/out of his office. To finish my 13 year old daughter's sports physical, Dr. Fankhauser told her she had to foot race him. We went out to the grass near the clinic and they raced. My daughter loved it. ??

Dr. Fankhauser is an excellent doctor. Our children love him. We have one child who is extremely opposed to shots, but at our last visit Dr. Fankhauser and his nurse waited patiently and talked with him until his fears were gone.
