Excellent Follow-Up
Dr. Romero did total knee replacements on both my knees in 2023 and 2024. He was very attentive in all my visits taking whatever time necessary to explain my procedures in detail to both me and my wife. Both of my surgeries were successful despite some rehab issues with my first knee. Dr. Romero patiently reassessed my problem and provided additional care to help remedy the problem resulting in a very good outcome. He and his staff were always willing to see me and deal with all my post surgery questions or problems. Dr. Romero is friendly, professional and will go above and beyond a patient’s expectations to make them comfortable both mentally and physically with their surgical experience. I am 81 years old and go to some excellent Austin area doctors. Dr. Joey Romero is at the very top of that group in all respects.

Better than I’d hoped for! The best surgeon.
After interviewing 4 different recommended surgeons, I consulted with Dr. Joey Romero for my final decision. I asked the same questions of each surgeon, and Dr. Romero was straight up with me. He explained everything that I had been questioning about for my individual knee. He looked at my lifestyle, asked questions and really took his time to make sure my knee would heal better than expected. We both agreed on a partial, as my knee was from an accident and not degenerative. I was competing in horse speed barrel racing in 6 weeks post op. My pain during recovery was minimal. He used the Mako robot assist, and did some great tissue sparing techniques. He removed all the arthritis points, and bone spurs. The office staff at St David’s Center for Hip and Knee were always helpful and quick. I feel great. No more limping for me.

Total Hip Replacement
My mother had a hip replacement by Dr. Romero almost 1 year ago. His experience and expertise have been life-changing for my mother. From barely being able to go up staircases and standing for long periods of time, to running around with her grandkids and showing up to their events. It has been truly remarkable. The staff is fantastic and we truly felt like VIPs from start to finish. My mother has sent multiple friends to Dr. Romero since her replacement.

Dr. Romero is the best! I had two knee replacements within six months with wonderful results. I had no apprehensions with the upcoming second sgy since the first was so positive. PT went very smoothly also as a result of his fine work.

Excellent Outcome: Knee Replacement
Dr. Romero recently performed a total knee replacement on my left knee. I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees. I am 68 years old. I interviewed 3 orthopedic surgeons before choosing Dr. Romero. I chose Dr. Romero, because he is an expert in using the robotic arm to perform this surgery. This equipment greatly reduces the possibility of needing a second surgery to make an adjustment. In addition, Dr. Romero thoroughly addresses your questions and concerns. He is also a nice person, with a caring bedside manner. Dr. Romero will replace the other knee in September. I have great confidence in him. I was walking without a cane and walking my dog for short distances six weeks after this surgery. Knee replacement is a major surgery and the first two weeks of recovery are challenging, so you want the BEST.

Very happy with results
I am so pleased with the results from the partial knee replacement done by Dr Romero. After looking at my radiology reports he suggested a full knee replacement may not be necessary. I am so happy with my recovery time. I am skiing, bike riding and hitting the tennis ball after 16 weeks. I would definitely recommend Dr Romero for knee surgery.

Dr. Romero replaced my right hip where I had osteoarthritis after 76 years of wear and tear. A few days later after surgery my wife heard me whistling while coming down the stairs. That was representative of how great I felt. I cannot describe well enough how personable, informative, likeable, and genuinely concerned about his patients that Dr. Romero is. My surgery was in July, 2021 and I’ve returned to mountain biking 60 miles a week without any pain whatsoever. I’m only 5 months out from hip surgery and I just met with him to schedule a left knee replacement surgery for mid January. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Romero , and I am looking forward to improving my mobility. To his testament, he uses the most recent and improved innovative techniques, and is insanely focused on delivering only the very best results from his work.

I saw Dr Romero for hip replacement complicated by serious spine issues. He helped to isolate the pain and we elected to get the hip replaced first. Outstanding results. Excellent teacher and bedside manner. Cannot say enough about this pro!

Review of Doctors, PA’s Nurses and staff of St. David’s center for knee and hip replacement. I have been a patient of Dr. Carter for several years. Was scheduled for a partial knee procedure on Feb 18. Dr. Carter became ill and cancelled all Jan and Feb schedules. Being that I had been in pain for 9 months I needed to get rescheduled. I called Cherylann at 6:50 AM on Monday morning to try to get help. She answered her phone and I immediately became her most important patient. She contacted Dr. Romero to see if he could take me as a Patient and called me back later on Monday morning. Being a new patient with Dr. Romero , he wanted additional information like a MRI and fresh blood work. I got the MRI scheduled at 10:00PM Monday night and the blood work done earlier that day. I also got an appointment with Dr. Romero on Tuesday at 1:00PM. At my Tuesday appointment Dr. Romero had all the information he needed to schedule me for surgery on Jan 29. Surgery was successful with a ROBOTIC
