Dismissive and disinterested
I was sent to Virginia Mason after having an extensive work up at another hospital for unexplained chronic and acute abdominal pain. Dr. Koch did a few more tests and when nothing showed up on the scopes and scans, he then became incredibly dismissive and disinterested in any further pursuit of answers and wrote that he believed I had a "pyschosomatic illness". He basically said it was all in my head. I went home sick, depressed and still in terrible pain. Sometime after that I was referred to another doctor who treated me like a rational and reasonable person and informed me that there were several conditions that could be causing my pain that would not show on any testing. She did exploratory laparoscopic surgergy and found extensive adhesions and did lysis on them. I came out pain free. Dr. Koch didn't have an easy answer and didn't care and decided to blame me for my pain. That little diagnosis followed me around for years. He should be ashamed for adding to my suffering.

Met this Physician? In the ER. Likely the most un compassionate physician I have ever encountered. He actually walked out on me in the emergency room when I suggested he wasn’t listening. My goodness imagine that. He was upset that he had spent a hot of time reviewing my record.. I believe that is his job and what he gets paid for. Doctors are not gods. They are compensated very well. God help the next patient he does this too.

I said i think i am suffering from acid reflux, he said ok take this medicine day and night for the rest of your life. I asked him, but how does he know that I think is indeed the same medical condition? His response was "What do you want me to do?" If you like this kind of medical care, he is your man. Instead, I recommend dr. raj butani, who feels much more responsible for the care and treatment of his patients.
