I have been a chronic pain patient since 1985 [a combination of 12 herniated discs (thoracic spine) and a blend of chronic classic migraine and tension headaches running around the 8.0 level on the pain scale]. After my previous PMS [Pain Management Specialist] left town, I tried several doctors. They ALL had the same thing in common: they ALL said "You take too much pain medication" cut my dosing, but didn't offer ANYTHING to help compensate for the reduction. One NEVER once looked at me. He looked at my file, consulted a small book from his shirt pocket, stated that I took too much pain medication, cut my dosing in half, said he wanted to see me in a month and turned to walk out. He spent less than 30 seconds in the room talking AT me. I then was referred to Dr. Brazill. What a difference! He said that I WAS taking too much, but he was going to compensate with another medication to serve as a prophylactic against headaches. He went on to say that if this other medication was insufficient there were other possibilities [which he named]. He assured me that he was not going to leave me high and dry. I have been a patient of his for over 20 years, and he has decreased my levels of pain medication and provided other avenues for pain relief that, in concert, work almost as effectively without the deleterious side-effects of narcotics. There is a difference between a 'doctor' and a 'physician.' A 'doctor' is primarily interested in his practice. A 'physician' is primarily interested in his patients. Dr. Brazill is DEFINITELY a physician. In fact, he goes beyond 'physician,' he is a 'healer.'

What more could you ask for
I have gone to 3 other pain management Dr's in the Bakersfield area, and 2 of those 3 were absolutely horrible. So far I have been with Brazill for over 3 years and plan on staying with him, because he not only listens to me & my problems, he also does as much as can be expected,

Dr Brazil listens to me
Dr Brazil not only listened but he always has my current info in view when i get injections. Ive found that comforting and good results follow. His office staff do pretty well considering the way some folks treat them! His other drs have educated me on important things regarding the rx/rx’s im currently on.

I had an appointment for 8 am and arrived at 7:30. The office wasn't open yet so I waited in the hallway. After a few minutes another patient showed up and began to wait as well. Then another patient showed up to wait as well. We all had 8 am appointments. The staff opened the door at 8:02. I filled out my COVID-19 paperwork and waited at the desk. About 10 minutes later the receptionist showed up and greeted one of the patients by name and grabbed her file and placed it in the rack for the nurse. Then she grabbed the other patients file and put it in the rack. At 8:30 she asked for my name. After I told her my name I explained that I had an 8 AM appointment and I was waiting since 7:30 before anyone else. she said just go have a seat and They'll call you. Then they proceeded to call me in at 8:38. I went into the exam room and told the nurse that I have to be at an appointment at 9. Long story short the doctor wasn’t there. I came back at 1 and he had no memory of doing my injections

I have had my back fused at the lower end and also broke one vertebra that didn't heal like I hoped it would. Because of this I have gone to several Pain management Dr's in the Bakersfield area where the first three were a total joke. Then I got referred to Dr. Brazill and what a breath of fresh air. I can't say much about his bed side manner, but who cares. His surgery center is top notch and the same for all of his assistants, and same goes for what he has done for me.

Dr Brazil was the only doctor in Bakersfield that could remove my DRG stimulator this is the only reason I went to him. I have CRPS which is the known and new acronym he refuses to call it by the new acronym and only calls it RSD. He dismissed what I had to say about my own medical history. He became grumpy and mean when I didn't want to follow his plan of action. He wanted me to put in a second spinal cord stimulator in, when my consult was for a failing DRG stimulator. I didn't want a second one, I just wanted him to remove the DRG I had and this became a problem. He is partial owner in the clinic where I had my surgery done. I think money has a role in his suggested plans of care. I would not recommend Dr Brazil.

Dr Brazil is a grumpy old man that is so angry with the way meds are controlled that he does NOT care for his patients anymore. He even told me all he cares about is retiring with enough money before FDA takes everything away. He is MEAN and will make you cry and feel like nothing! His other Drs in his office are wonderful and try to help as much as they can. Dr. Brazil pushes epidurals on everyone even if you have a reaction to it because he performs the surgeries so it's more money for him. Same goes for the Stimulator!! He is a horrid man that needs to be fired asap before he kills another patient.

My first visit was horrible. I waited over 1.5 hours to see the doctor. When I saw him he wouldn't even let me finish a sentence. I felt rushed and like he didn't care. Now I'm waiting to get an epidural and come to find out he is running very late. He has cost me money on both occasions. I had to miss work both days. I missed 2 hours on my first visit and 4 hours today. This is so unacceptable in my opinion.

I was seeing this Dr. for the past 4 years. I'm in my 60's, disabled, and I've been in pain for many years. I've had many failed back surgeries, also for my arm, and knee. I've been on the strongest pain relieving patches for the past 12 years. I don't use any ilegal drugs, nor alcohol. I've been following the office procedures to keep receiving my pain patches. Approximately 6 months ago, I couldn't urinate, even though I tried. Dr Brazill himself stated I could return, and give a sample. It didn't seem to be a problem since I was trustworthy. I returned within 2 days, and I was told I was being dismissed from his practice. I didn't understand, and I was confused. I tried explaining that I was allowed to return by the Dr. himself. His staff didn't care at all, and I was also being lied to. I was forced, threatened to sign a document that I didn't agree with. If I didn't, I wouldn't get my last prescription by them. I was given a list of other Dr's I can see. I don't recommend this Dr

I was referred to this Dr from my PCP to help me with my pain meds. This Dr. came in, and he didn't even introduce himself. He ordered a MRI of my back. As soon as he saw my pain medication, he basically said "I can't help you". No options were considered. He took the MRI order back, and sent me back to my Dr.
