Dr. John Chien, MD

Dr. Chien is the type of doctor you rarely see today. He is professional but compassionate, answers all questions, has the tests available on his IPad and explains everything clearly. He gives his full attention and time for you to ask questions. He also made sure that my husband had his questions answered. You can tell he cares about his patients. This is in stark contrast to a specialist I saw earlier in the day. That doctor doesn’t pay attention to the patient; instead, gives a brief summary and tells you to make an appointment to his clinic. I have a trach and was in the middle of clearing it ( you know, to be able to breathe) and instead of waiting for me to regulate my breathing, continued to talk, clueless to my condition. Not a good experience at all. But, Hoag Hospital and their patients are lucky to have Dr. Chien, the kind of doctor you always hope to get.
