Saved my quality of life - recommend fully
Dr Choi performed multiple surgeries on me after after a surgical mistake by my OB during labor. No other colorectal surgeon would have been able to operate so soon after and her efforts saved me from requiring a colostomy bag or being incontinent. She is very thoughtful and genuinely cares about her patients.

I wasn’t a fan of Dr Choi’s bedside manner, but the worst part is that his staff has not returned my phone calls after months of trying to schedule a surgery he recommended. Rather unprofessional and disappointing.

Dr. Choi is both an incredible surgeon and person; we are lucky to have him in the HV. He has a level of understanding and compassion that few doctors do. Don't be fooled by his dark sense of humor (I mean, you kind of have to in order to be a colorectal surgeon), he is one of the most caring doctors I've ever had. I'm guessing some of the other reviewers here are older/more conservative and don't appreciate his sometimes brash levity. He was just the right mix of top-notch surgeon, straightforward, and no BS. I did, after all, trusted him with my life. His nurses and co-workers all love him, which says a lot about him.

Wonderful caring doctor. Had two major surgeries and he spent a very long time explaining every aspect of what I should expect. Follow up after both was exceptional. Staff was warm and caring. Always returned calls. Cannot say enough good things about him. Zane

This doctor has no knowledge of, or desire to assist patients with addiction issues. If you are an addict, (recovered)...find another office to get a surgeon. DANGER HERE Even with prior disclosure of being a treated addict AND consent to speak to doctor prescribing medication for this, they discontinued all opiates before restarting suboxone. They refused to treat whole patient. They caused great harm The danger of vomitting to my incision site was ignored. AND relapse occured in 76 hours

Had surgery. This doctor doesn't want to see you or talk to you. He saw me a couple of minutes before surgery and a couple of minutes after. After surgery check up is done by PA. I wanted to see the dr. for a check up. When I made an appt. to see the Dr. instead of a PA, the made me wait a very long time. When I met the dr, he was arrogant, obnoxious, curt, annoyed with my ?s. He gave me 2 minutes.. Very poor experience. Arrogant beyond belief.

Dr. Choi's staff cancelled their appointment on my sister without speaking to her. They left a message on an answering machine that wasnt hers. Her situation is dire, needs to schedule an operation ASAP, and the staff doesnt understand the importance of a consult with him at this time. Shameful for not rescheduling in a timely manor.

I highly recommend Dr John J Choi! Just 5 days after he performed my surgery, I'm up and moving around with minimal pain! He listened to my concerns, and explained everything in a clear and understandable way. Thank you Doc!
