misdiagnosed my leukemia in 2022
I've thought about leaving this review for years. In 2022 I went to CityMD in Brooklyn, NY with chest pain. My analysis was effectively pushing against his hands to assess pain levels which at that point was still mild. My 'diagnosis' was costochondritis. No bloodwork done even though I asked if bloodwork would be taken. I'll never forget that the aid said after he left the room - 'A lot of people have been diagnosed with costochondritis lately'. I should've known that he hasn't a thorough doctor from that statement alone. Fast forward a week and I'm in the ER with excrutiating chest pain and white blood cell counts over 150k (yes 150k). All he had to do was take some blood. I wish they'd caught it a week earlier because every day makes a difference with leukemia. I saw another review saying he misdiagnosed someone else's cancer and knew I had to share my story too.

Very Professional! Very Effective and Efficient
Dr. Costa Is an overall great doctor with a lot of experience but what matters most he pays attention to small details. He really cares about the future outcome. All my appointment was not rushed he make sure you’ll have the information you need to take care of your health. He would recommend you to a specialist if he cannot assist you. He make sure everyone is seen No matter how long it takes and he is very effective when it come to time and important details about your health ! He one of the best doctors I was referred to mo so I recommend everyone that wants a second opinion go to Dr.Costa. You would feel the care!

Lack of caring, no attention to detail and misdiagnosed my family member due to his lack of caring. I definitely give this doctor 0 STARS

John Costa is a great doctor! Highly recommend!
John Costa is very professional, very caring, will try to get to the bottom of your problem unlike most doctors that don't give a crap and don't want to come to work and not really helpful. I've nothing but great experience with his office and himself in particular. I do recommend to try him and if any reason you're not satisfied then of course it's your choice to go to somebody else but like I mentioned before I haven't had any problems and I have nothing bad to say.

SO MY 88 YEAR OLD GRANDMA WHO CAN BARELY WALK, WITH CANCER SHLEPPED HER WAY ALL THE WAY TO THIS OFFICE TO SEE THE DR ABOUT A SECONDARY MILD PNEUMONIA DUE TO COVID (TESTED POSITIVE 3 WEEKS AGO). THEY REFUSED TO SEE HER WITHOUT A NEGATIVE COVID TEST CONFIRMATION. HE IS A PULMONARY/INTERNAL MEDICINE DOCTOR. WHO REFUSES TO SEE ANYONE WITH MILD TO MODERATE COVID THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE TO GO TO THE ER? THIS IS YOUR LITERAL JOB. AFTER SPEAKING TO HIM OVER THE PHONE HE HAD THE AUDICITY TO TELL ME THIS IS NYS LAW. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I WORK IN HEALTHCARE AND IN A PRIVATE OFFICE MYSELF. WE DO NOT HAVE SUCH POLICY THAT THE GOVT REQUIRES US TO HAVE PROOF OF A NEGATIVE COVID TEST TO BE SEEN. IF THIS IS AN OFFICE POLICY THAT IS THEIR CHOICE AS THEY ARE A PRIVATE MEDICAL OFFICE. BUT HE DID NOT ASK THESE QUESTIONS OVER THE PHONE PRIOR TO SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT. SO NOW MY GRANDMA LEFT WITHOUT SEEING A DR. AND CONSEQUENTLY NOW HAS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE DUE TO ALL THE DRAMA THAT OCCURED.

My father went to this doctor every single month. He told him that he had no appetite. Dr. Costa told him to drink Ensure. This went on for a year. What Dr. Costa missed was STAGE 4 Lung Cancer. My father had a mass in his lungs. The cancer spread to his liver. When discovered, it was too late for radiation or chemo. My father died last Friday. The doctors at Methodist Hospital were appalled. He took all my dad's options.

the old staff was good, but some of the new girls in the office had nasty attitudes and for referrals it took arguments to get them done. the dr never ever listened to me and would always talk over me. the wait time was over an hour, sometimes over 2 hours. i didnt find him knowledgeable or informative by any means. definitely didnt feel like he cared about his patients and their needs. i changed dr's after many years of seeing him. i couldnt handle his way with patients, myself or his staff.
