Dr. John Cottam, MD

I have never been more impressed by the genuineness of this physician as well as the office staff. He convinced me (a cynic for years) that he would find a way to help me have less pain. A very positive experience.

Dr Cottam is so friendly, knowledgeable and I’m beyond happy he is now my dermatologist, 10+ thank you so much DrCottam!!!

Got another bill after paying my bill off a cpl months ago. Like last 3 bills part of it is always wrong and paid already. Now I get a bill related to my deductible from last January. Just told them pay it off and I'll be getting another dermatologist. Will contact State Insurance Commissioner's office. Cottam always complaining about med prices, employee salaries and Obamacare. Then he passes on these unknown prices to hardworking ppl like me living paycheck to paycheck. He's the most arrogant, obnoxious Dr I've ever had. Finally had enough of his ridiculous billing ripoffs. Surely I'll get another bill in 6 months for some other charge. Keep all my money !

I love Dr Cottom and all his staff. Super efficient and Dr Cotton is a genius at diagnosing and treating everything related to skin issues!!! He has treated me successfully many times!!! He is perfect!

Dr. Cottam saved my life, I was turned down by plant city hospital to get my surgery because of covid which was melanoma skin cancer, and I literally had my consultation and was able to get in for my surgery the next day, he's amazing! I'm only 35 years old with a husband, 12 and 13 year old and an 8 month old I was terrified when I heard that I had melanoma. I feel he went above and beyond to get it taken care of. He truly cares. I would recommend him to anyone, he has a great personality and his staff were sweet as well .

This has to be the worst Dr. I have ever seen. I so wish I had read reviews sooner. Dr. can we very awkward. Staff was friendly enough but front desk was very unorganized. I ended up being charged the same billing code twice for a procedure because of Dr's preference. This was never discussed with me that I would be charged twice. Shame on me for not clarifying. Just do yourself a favor and find a different office.

The worst doctor I’ve ever ever been to. Didn’t check the moles I asked him to look at. Threw prescription names at me when I showed him my skin peeing and said “idk what it is”. And then proceeded to not check under any clothing or my shoes for other moles. Rushed and unprofessional. Didn’t care at all, and told me four minute showers would “fix all my problems”.

So disappointed, for kids or adult Bad Doctor he know even Brett attention, not organized, dirty office with so many people around, and all about money only if you pay with a credit card you have fees to pay.

Great, Dr. Cottam and staff have been nothing short of professional, efficient, friendly and overall very pleasant.

Doctor Cottam has never been , nor ever will be about money. His staff is loyal and been with him a long time , he does not stay and he’s not your BFF he dx and treats and moves on . He has saved many people . I have met other dermatologist. He is the best in the State of FL! Was

I had an appointment scheduled for 2/19/20 for an afternoon. They called me on 2/18 to remind me of the appointment. The day of the appointment they called as if they had some morning cancellations. I told them I would rather keep my afternoon appointment time. When telling them this information they wanted to change the story & say the doctor is not seeing anyone @ 2pm and they needed to change my appointment time. I felt as if this was an inconvenience to me because they knew he was unable to see me & they should have rescheduled my appointment when they called me as a courtesy reminder. They are unprofessional

READ THE TERMS!!! prefer not to accept credit/debit card only cash or check. Tax evasion to the next level. Fold out chairs in the lobby. A joke of terms and agreements. Receptionist seems to be lacking simple knowledge of hours of operation “I’m sorry you can look that up on your phone” now what’s a form of extortion is under the terms and agreements “we can bill you anytime we want until the the expiration date of your card”. Office is poorly maintained, how in the world did this clown even get his license is beyond my comprehension. This place should be under investigation and should be shut down and this joke have his license revoked for life.

Honestly, I couldn't even bring myself to make it to the back. Upon arrival at the office I was already sketched out. Building is definitely not up to code. Front counter attendant rushed to tell me I can't have anyone IN THE BUILDING with me for liability issues. That's a first. They continued on discussing personal matters loud enough for the waiting room to hear. Got to reading the paperwork I had to sign... My favorite part was where any procedure will result in bad scaring and may result in infection, loss of use of body parts, nerve damage, bleeding or possible death and that if you sign it he's not liable for this. WHAT. I bolted so fast. I'm forever scarred, thankfully only metaphorically. I'll be looking into doctors more thoroughly to risk stepping into a chop shop again. Worst part is my OBGYN recommended me to him. Now I have to question whether I need to switch them as well. Wouldn't recommend the Bartow establishment to my worst enemy unless they were looking for sepsis.

Spent two minutes with me. Wrong diagnosis. Tried overcharging me. Wouldn't allow questions. Didn't let me explain what was happening. The rudest doctor I have ever met.

Worst I’ve ever experienced by far all about money doesn’t listen talk , talk ,talk gets angry if you try to explain your problem without any doubt he is the worst doctor l have ever seen couldn’t pay me to go back .

2-27-19 Dr Cottam 500 Vonderburg Dr. Ste. 212, Brandon FL 33511 Visited office, used restroom, it was FILTHY. The toilet bowl was brown with bacterial growth, the floor was nasty, the sink appeared to not have been cleaned in quite some time. Never have experienced such rude, dismissive and curt behavior from a doctor. Less than two minutes into my appointment, when I tried to described why by cheek was swollen and red he said, “ I’ll talk, you listen, okay?” I believe I just sat stunned. Three minutes later, two prescriptions for creams brusquely handed to me, he walked out the door. Wow. He was recommended by my GP. I am visiting her tomorrow to relate my experience, and tell her DO NOT recommend this person to anyone.

I've been going to Dr Cottam for over 12 years now and I love the different locations. He's on the ball. Be prepared bc he's quick and he can go through a list in little time. I love his quirky character. He listens always to every word effectively and I am in and out usually sooner than later like many other drs.
