Horrible at responding
Four voicemails and four months waiting for results and still no call back. This has been a continuous thing throughout years.

Considering the neurologist I saw for almost 20 years prior, Dr. Dempster is so much easier to communicate with.

I have gone to Dr. Dempster office for about 3 yrs. He has not been a very likeable person. He has told me that he was not able to see me that day but I had a appointment already scheduled for him, he told me that he had a meeting with the neurology board and I only had a few minutes that he was going to spend with me. I had several questions I wanted to ask,but he didn't have any time. He was very rude and didn't want to listen to my question. He spent about 5 minutes or less talking about the meds he wanted me off of. I do not think he remembers he already had taken me off of the meds or titrated me as far as I could go without having seizures. I had to call the on duty Dr in the morning to tell him that I was having seizures again and I needed to be put on my regular schedule dose. It took 3days before my blood levels were at normal. Now I am looking to get another new nuro. Doc.

Excellent Doctor
Dr. John Dempster is the best Neurologist, I have had over many years. He has updated all the information that I need to know. Dr Dempster has taught me and my husband to recognise when I am having a seizure. I can not think of a better doctor.

Excellent medical care.
Dr. Dempster has been my neurologist for about 15 years for several serious medical conditions. I have never waited 40 minutes for even one appointment. Additionally, he has never acted rushed, and he has never failed to be caring and kind. I do feel that the most recent reviews written during the worst pandemic in 100 years constitute quite an unfair hatchet job. Physicians were risking not only their lives but also the lives of their families when they entered examining rooms with only the protection of a mask—and at times an inferior mask at that. Dr. Dempster is a hero (as are the nurses and med assistants who showed up for work when it wasn’t always possible to have sufficient personal protection). Imagine the stress…and many of them did contract Covid. The persons who have left negative reviews certainly owe this fine physician an apology—because they are unkind and I believe quite inaccurate. Dr. Dempster has saved many lives including mine. Blessings on him.

Exceedingly Rude, unsympathetic and egotistical
Telehealth
Last night I called the on-call neurologist to help sort out what, I certainly believed to be, an emergency issue with my father who has advanced Parkinson’s. Mr. Dempster was exceedingly rude, short, egotistical and impatient. It was as if he was bothered that I had interrupted his favorite show and was doing everything he could to get back to it. Both my girlfriend and son were incredibly surprised at the way he was behaving. I cannot speak to how he treats other patients but our interaction last night wouldn’t be appropriate in any professional setting, much less a healthcare scenario where someone is trying to navigate end of life conversations. Please understand that I often joke that in the glass have full conversation I’m the guy who says I’m just happy he has a glass. Overwhelmingly, I’ve had a very positive experience with Peace Health neurology, making the call last night that much more shocking.

Not Worth the Time
Office is disorganized, referral was made to another specialist, but no records were received after several months. Recommendations were vague, unhelpful and inaccurate. I would not return to this clinic or recommend to anyone.

He knows what he’s talking about as a neurologist but filled out some paperwork wrong which ended in my surgery (different specialty) being canceled the day before it was scheduled. My surgeon contacted his office DURING business hours and he refused to take 10 seconds to fix the paperwork which meant I had to reschedule my surgery and start from scratch. Super agitated. He’s not a bad neurologist, definitely rigid and overly cautious, he ordered some testing and additional follow up visits which I didn’t feel were appropriate (he wanted a 3 month visit even though I had a benign brain tumor 10 years ago and every single doctor has told me to do yearly checkups), probably to bill my insurance more. Very unimpressed.

Sadly this Doctor cannot be bothered with much. I feel like my mother has wasted precious time having Parkinson's with him as her Dr. After a few years as a patient, he didn't even have the curtesy to call back when his video visit malfunctioned...he was mid sentence only a few minutes into an appointment we'd waited weeks for AND he was late for. I understand things happen but when we called back we were told to schedule another appointment in the midst of a huge health crisis with her Parkinsons. At first I thought they were just not understanding the call had dropped. They then transferred my Mom to another neurologist without even letting us know Dr. Dempster was not going to see her anymore. She put a lot of trust in him and the whole thing was handled very unprofessionally. He's been a mixed bag of "nice" and "arrogant/ disinterested" depending on when you see him. I DO not recommend him for Parkinson's . One of worst Dr experiences of her life. Wish I could say no stars!

Dr. Dempster is great. I've been seizure-free for a year under his care. He's thorough, he listens, he treats you with respect, he is kind, and he has a sense of humour. Super nice guy and great doc. I highly recommend him.
