Eickman responded to my review. Had I seen this earlier, I would have responded immediately. He did NOT provide information regarding how to prepare my home after a laminectomy nor did he provide any information regarding how to dress, get in and out of bed, etc. Researched on Web to supply necessary info. Pain management very poor. Nurse was condescending and irritating. A second opinion stated Eickman should never have performed a laminectomy. My spine was not suitable for such a surgery. Also neglected to tell me laminectomies fail so often there is a term for that: Laminectomy Failure Syndrome which left me with permanent nerve damage and chronic spinal pain.

Great local neurosurgeon.
Dr. Eickman is thorough in his evaluation of the situation. He considers carefully the options and recommends what is best for the patient, even if it means sending you to see a different doctor. His staff is polite and they really work hard to make your recovery successful.

He fused my 4th and 5th lumbar to relieve sciatic pain. Cleaned up arthritis and cysts, 2 years later, my back is virtually pain free. He was thorough, professional and delivered on what he diagnosed. Oerall I would recommend him to anyone needed his expert services.

His review of my back problems after a failed back surgery by another neurosurgeon was very cursory and incomplete. He put me on a small dosage of a nerve pain medication. When that didn't work, he referred me to the local pain clinic. I immediately found a different neurosurgeon who took a much more aggressive approach to my care. I also switched to another pain clinic. Both moves were excellent. The new neurosurgeon operated and cured my problem, finding a broken bone in my back.

The diagnosis seemed to be correct although no one is sure. The treatment plan was totally inappropriate and was contradicted by a subsequent neurosurgeon. He gave up on me when I really needed help. I moved on to a different neurosurgeon and am doing better. As important, the new neurosurgeon continuously searches for feedback and uses much better diagnostics and therapeutic tools.
