I had a bad experience with this office. Always long wait in waiting room and them in room. After cataract surgery it took 4 times to their office before they got my prescription right. Each nurse? Gave me a different prescription. Even the place where I was getting my precription said they have problems with this office and I’ve heard several people say they have had a bad experience also. I would not recommend this office.

I have recommended Dr. Haines to my adult sons and several friends. Dr. Haines stood beside me during my recent hospital stay while I was being treated for shingles on my face. He had not been my ophthalmologist prior to this, but saw my need and reached out to me. He became pivotal in my healing as he led my medical team in saving the vision in my left eye. He checked on me daily and was gentle, encouraging and strong for me. I was in a dark place, and he brought light. Bless him.

Dr Haines bedside manner is somewhat condescending---he is nice but treats people like they are children. Does not really explain things, even if he is dealing with someone with a more scientific background who wants more explanation. Other issue is that his office routinely overschedules so a 2 hour wait is the norm.

Dr. Haines has been my eye care provider for over 20 years. When I moved from Newport, Oregon to Ontario, Oregon, (450 miles across state) I tried to find a good local doctor. I saw an eye specialist in Boise, Idaho. It was a nightmare. For the last few years, I have elected to drive the 450 miles to Newport twice a year to see Dr. Haines. The time and travel is well worth the peace of mind I have from knowing that someone who really cares is in charge of my vision care. He is topnotch.

The excessive waiting at his Newport office should have warned me. He is charismatic but only interested in multiple appointments without clear strategy, communication and improvement to my condition. Advising me not to be stoic about my pain he and his office staff did nothing to answer my complaints about the pain. Thankfully I landed a different doctor on 2 occasions who advanced my care. Long wait times continued except at his Surgi-center in Eugene.
