Wow. Avoid if possible.
John McCracken engages with his patients minimally and throws all the generic, big procedures at them without really knowing much about what is going on. Doesn't spend time with patients, doesn't get to know their issues, doesn't seem curious or interested in actually helping. Seems like he's another should-be retired white male doctor who's still in it for the wrong reasons (money, lack of alternate life purpose, feeling important, staying out of guilt due to lack of gastros, etc) Multiple staff members who work with this man told me that he 'always runs late.' The day of my colonoscopy with him: late. Follow up visit: insanely late. They were wondering where he was for a while, attempting to text & locate him as I laid on a gurney. My post-op phone visit... 1 hour and 40 minutes late, and by then I was back at work. Then I see 'missed visit' on my online medical portal. Who missed it? Me? Or him?

I'm glad he's here locally
Great. Dr. McCracken is a pleasant doctor to communicate with and he knows his stuff. He is such a popular doctor that he travels to wherever he is practicing at, then goes to his next place, then next place. Getting an appointment is not always easy, but a patient will eventually see him when he's in town. The appointments are not long due to having seeing many patients, so I find it easy for me to have a list prepared so I can try and stay within my allotted time. He does run late at times too, so one must be patiently waiting for a time before seeing him. I do recommend to bring something with you as you might have to wait a while to see him. He's worth my wait since he is such a smart and pleasant doctor.
