My husband came to Memorial hospital for a test. Test revealed the widow maker artery was hanging on by a thread, literally. He was admitted same day and a double bypass was performed by Dr. Melvan . My husband was in ICU less than 24 hours and released from the hospital 4 days later. Dr. Melvan and his team are amazing!!! God blessed us with this surgical team.

Dr. Melvan was my mother's heart surgeon. She needed a mitral valve replacement, aortic valve repair, and CABG. It is not an easy decision to make when you hear about the risks but we decided to move forward. Today I can say that thanks to the expertise of Dr Melvan and his gifted hands, a month after the surgery my mom is almost recovered. Dr. Melvan is the provider who sits down with the family and explains the procedure in detail, who rounds with his team several times a day and is always willing to answer your questions and concerns. I have not enough words to thank Dr. Melvan who gave my mother more quality of life. I also want to thank his team Dylan, Amanda, and Susan in Dr. Melvan's office and all the Memorial Regional CVICU, step-down physicians, and nursing staff. You all have been amazing!!

Dr. Melvan was assigned to head my aortic valve replacement procedure. He was both comforting and professional both before and after the procedure. He concisely explained all the steps to the procedure, risks, and benefits for the different options that were provided to me. He was also incredibly empathetic towards me and my family and addressed their concerns wonderfully. I highly recommend Dr. Melvan and his team.

I needed quadruple heart bypass. Dr.Melvan nursing staff, arranged for all detailed pre-op procedures and Dr. himself had a detailed review with me and my spouse.During my recovery in the hospital, I had a very good deal of attention from both Hospital personnel as well as from Doc himself. Send-off from hospital and a follow-up were impeccable.

Highly professional with a sense of thorough preop/postop counselling to his patients. He listen very well to his patients concerns and gives his professional support. The day after my surgery, He was there standing on my bedside with a big smile as a sign of success. He told me....' Take care of your new engine'! He performed an assessment of my overall condition ( physically, emotionally ,spiritually ) and told me...'I will see you in my office in two week period' as a follow up. Two weeks came by and I was in his office. His staff greeted me with respect and it was such a great feeling to know that there are staff like these who are well trained to perform their duties very well in such a highly and professional manner. Dr.Melvan was the surgeon called in to do emergency open heart surgery on me last month. He and his team were with my family and I every step of the way, thru my stay in ICU and even step down unit and then for out patient visit. He would explain everything going on with me to my family and would see me everyday while in the hospital. He makes you feel comfortable asking him any and all questions. I personally love his humor!! He makes me feel that I will overcome all that has happened to me!!! I wish I could give him 100 stars, he deserves them!!!
