Excellent doctor!
Dr Clements is an excellent doctor. You can tell his first goal is to do what’s best for the patient. He did a fantastic job with my surgery. The only negative thing is that he needs a little bit more bedside manner. (I guess you can’t have it all.)I found out if you talk to him he is very pleasant and answers any questions you have. Would I choose him him again? Definitely.

I had arthritis removed from mid section of my right foot by Dr Clements. I have numbness and pain in my foot to this day after surgery. The problem with Dr Clements is he does not explain procedures well to you. I left his office presurgery thinking I would have surgery , get a boot and be up and walking. The fact that I left not knowing I would be immobile for 8 weeks has to be a lack of communication on his part. He didn't tell me I would need a knee walker to get around, and that I basically would be laid up for eight weeks before I would get a boot. He didn't tell me I would be in terrible pain for the first eight weeks. Upon leaving surgery recovery, he said very casually, wiggle your toes. I found out later this is very important and should be done quite frequently to help the nerve endings recover properly. I have nerve problems in my foot to this day. Carillion needs to set up video learning for foot surgeries too like they have for knee replacement surgeries.

I went to Dr Clements for pain in right big toe (no cartlage) and bone spur. Office visits short, maybe 10 minutes. He never explained anything. He just said he could fix it. I had surgery and have a 3 inch scar which I can deal with, but I now found out I have a foot plate that goes from my big toe to beyond instep. So now my whole foot is restricted in movement and it is causing my ankle and calf to be strained. I can feel the plate in my foot. It bothers me. I am very upset about this since I was extremely active. Now it bothers me to walk. Clenents never told me nothing about putting a plate in my foot. I am not a physician, but I researched surgery and some websites say small incisions could be made. If I knew he was going to put a plate in my foot, I would not have done surgery or got second opinion at UVA or Duke.

He never even examined my wound. So rude and arrogant. I needed help with a medical problem and left the clinic as one patient said in the waiting area, "The first victim of the day". I will tell others about the poor care I received.

Love Dr. Clements! Great personality, listened to my issue and “heard” my concerns. He gave me many options and tried various treatments on my foot pain. You couldn’t find a more caring doctor. His staff has always been professional and caring. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Clements!

Last year I had a fall called a trimalleolar fracture. Took a long time healing, but now I am vertical. All because Dr. Clements performed the surgery that fixed me. I am so glad he went to medical school and graduated and can help people like me. I think he is great.
