Not a good experience
Did not take time with my son or us to talk through his diagnosis. Gave a different diagnosis than was on the ER discharge papers and didn't explain the discrepancy. Appointment felt very rushed, in and out in under 10 minutes. He literally didn't ask my son a single question or ask what if any activities he participates in. Did not physically examine the injury. Did not take his own XRAY or pull up the XRAY from the ER room to explain the fracture. Sent our kid back to school with a brace that looked too big for him and told him he should be fine to walk. He didn't even check him in the office to see how steady he would be baring weight on the injured leg. Our son went to school the next day and ended up falling trying to get from one class to the next. Seeking a 2nd opinion with a doctor who hopefully has a little bit more of a caring attitude. Not the experience I was expecting from a Morristown Hospital affiliated peds doctor.

I was told when I was 4 years old by other doctors I would not be able to run and jump after my surgeries I was allowed to run and jump. Dr Tis understood my anxiety , autism and sensory processing disorder so well during the process. Like I though I had to deal with knee caps moving all the time and poping out .because of Dr Tis he gave me a life I never picture of normal knees and I can run without all the pain his staff is amazing with autism needs

Dr. Tis listened attentively to all our questions and concerns. He took the time to thoroughly explain our son’s situation and the surgical procedures that would treat it. Dr. Tis had great rapport with our son I was very pleased with his detailed explanation about our son’s condition. He took his time in our office visits. I sincerely appreciated his willingness to address all our concerns. He promptly came out to talk with us after our son’s surgery and apprised us of the outcome of the surgery. The follow-up appointments with Dr. Tis have been informative and helpful. I can also call his office with any questions and his personal assistant kindly and promptly gets back to me with Dr. Tis’ answer(s). I would definitely recommend Dr. Tis! He is a highly skilled surgeon and easy to access. He explains medical procedures in layman’s terms. It is refreshing to leave an appointment and feel like all your questions have been answered!

Dr. Tis is great with my son. He talks to and explains things to him in a way that a 10 year old can understand. Post op Dr. Tis called me himself to check on my son's recovery. The Surgery and the recovery went well.

Dr Tis is amazing doctor at Johns Hopkins. He understands about autism and other special needs issues very well. Made sure I had the best plan for my knee surgery and kept use in the loop on what to expect. He sent us for a CT scan and it prove that it was actually worse than what he though. One night after surgery I had really bad pain and we called him and gave me better pain meds.

Failed to properly study/diagnose my child's complex sports injury (compression hip fracture, CAM FAI, labral tear) before recommending surgery in 2014. Dishonest re his experience w/ hip arthroscopy. Was supposed to repair labral tear he saw on MRI; couldn't find this during surgery, instead did unexpected/unnecessary psoas release also cut healthy cartilage. Result: 1 yr delay in walking, contributing to permanent bone deformities. Needed 2nd surgery w/ different doc to fix original problem.
