Doctor Whalen answered all of my questions i had a laminectomy and had little to no pain the next day. His support staff was very responsive, and instrumental at helping navigate workmans comp.

My visit was to sort out Treatment for a lower back injury

I sought out Dr Whalen for a second opinion and he did a thorough exam. He confirmed that I had exhausted all other non-surgical options before recommending surgery. The surgery went according to plan and I feel better already.

Dr. Whalen ran several tests (X-ray, MRIs) on my spine. The week of Thanksgiving, I received a call from his nurse, informing me that I would need a spinal neurosurgeon. 'Dr. Whalen doesn't treat tumors.' Dr. Whalen dropped me as his patient. I was told I needed a spinal microsurgeon.Had previous tests been examined, they would have been indicated this tumor has BEEN there for YEARS and has actually shrunk in size. Ultimately, I am lucky to under the care of another physician. Under his 'care', I would have been a candidate for dangerous and needless spinal micro-surgery.

Dr. Whalen made me feel better about what I need done with my problems, he really listened to me, I feel comfortable with having him as my Dr. for surgery, thank you

John Whalen takes no accountability for himself or the actions of his subordinates. His technician, Mary H., was rude and physically assaulted me when I asked her a question. Dr. Whalen did nothing as I exclaimed aloud that Mary H. had roughly shoved me with both hands. The doctor then asked if I wanted to still be seen. I said I would like a new technician, but I did not want my time to be wasted. A new technician brought my fiancé and I to a new room and Dr. Whalen comes in. He immediately gaslights me about things "in my file." When I asked what he was talking about he refused to answer and gave me a hard time about requesting my files thereafter. I was given my chart and notes from my previous appointment t this office and there was evidence to the exact opposition of the doctor's claims. Dr. Whalen then proceeded to say that he would not do the consultation I was there for. He wasted over 2 hours of my time and was abhorrent in his tone, behavior, and bedside manner.

Took my father here for an appointment because he was having trouble walking and frequent falls. Dr. Whalen was very thorough and spent a lot of time reviewing his imaging before telling him he needed surgery. He then spent a lot of time explaining the surgery and recovery. Would highly recommend him!
