Would not recommend him to anyone
Dr. Mai completely lacks bedside manner. He doesn’t listen well, doesn’t remember anything I say (including procedures he’s performed on me) and makes rude, insensitive comments. I never feel very comfortable in his care.

I needed to have my submandibular glad removed (a surgery with some pretty scary after effects… tongue numbness, loss of taste, lower lip weakness.) Dr Mai not only removed it successfully, but I had zero negative effects! I couldn’t be happier!

Worst Doctor Ever
Dr. Mai is the worst doctor I have ever seen. He misdiagnosed my issue and recommended unneeded therapy. I had to see another ENT that knew what he was doing to solve my problem.

Do not see this doctor!!!
Avoid this doctor at all costs. Has no 'bedside' manners, is rude, and does not like to be questioned.

Excellent Doctor
Came in to receive treatment for a chronic inner ear issue after seeing 3 other physicians. Dr. Mai was very attentive and responsive to my questions. Treatment has worked so far.

Gave me GERD
Told me I had TMJ and to take a lot of Ibprofuen. Two months later, I'm still dealing with the acid reflux from that. Thanks. This man is uniformed and has no clue what he is doing.

Loss of hearing
March 21st, 2020Dr. Mai is an uncaring Physician. I have hearing loss after his shoddy ear tube placement which did not resolve after it was removed by another ENT who agreed it was a bad job. I was in pain during and for months after the procedure. Also, he was rude and uncaring during every appointment and said that it was not possible for me to be in pain. During the last appointment I had with him he came in did not even look in my ear disregarded my symptoms while being rude and then just left without doing anything to help and I was charged $50. luckily I'm being treated by a good ENT now and not someone who doesn't care about their patients at all. 4 years later and I still have not forgotten

Excellent Care
I have been a patient of Dr. Mai’s since June 2023. In my opinion he is an excellent communicator and very professional. He has explained my treatment plan very concisely and understandably. He is very friendly and spends whatever time is necessary to answer all of my questions. His staff at both locations are very helpful and courteous.I would recommend Dr. Mai wholeheartedly.

Will not use
Dr Mai seemed rushed and was not very informative about the condition my wife had.. He was not very friendly and easy to communicate with. He seemed rushed. We tried for 2 months to get her Thyroid surgery scheduled and could not get anyone to call us back. Their scheduling department consists of one lady. They told us to wait in line. They would not call us back and let you know anything either way. We finally gave up and are going to a new doctor. Would not recommend yo anybody!

Doctor Mai is Great. Corrected my dead left Vocal Chord after Surgery to repair my Vertebrae in my neck left me with nerve damage 6 weeks prior. A risk factor with that by a Spinal Surgeon, not Dr. Mai. He put an implant, surgically in there and now my vocal chord is normal again! Wow! Modern Medicine and Dr. Mai, you can't go wrong IMO.

Came in for having some vertigo and sinus pressure, without even an examination he diagnosed me with migraines and emailed me articles to read! I had to ask him to check out my sinuses because I did not feel good and I feel like a may have a sinus infection. He checked my nose only and said I'm fine. He acted like I was a bother and sent me away with no treatment except that I need to find out what is triggering my migraines. Horrible experience, actually cried in my car after my visit.

I was referred to him for vertigo and a migraine. He was not helpful, didn't have answers, was told to "read up" on my diagnosis and shrugged off as nothing out of the ordinary. What got me... He asked what my migraine triggers are, which I responded are allergies. Never once did he offer to check me out for that during my first and what will be my only visit. Nor did he refer me one of his colleagues for my allergies. I won't go into great detail with my issues but I had vertigo and a migraine for a week straight and missed work. To me, this was concerning, not normal and definitely not ordinary.

Dr. Mai did a great job repairing an ear drum rupture from an infection. He was able to do a less invasive procedure with much less down time which I appreciated. While having a burst ear drum and difficulty hearing is not fun, I found the Shennandoah office and staff always professional and helpful. I recommend them!

I went to visit Dr. Mai in May to address a broken nose from a decades old injury. Together, with Dr. Sofola, they were able to reconstruct my nose and after over 30 years, I can actually breathe through my nose! I couldn't be more thrilled!
