Dr. Jon Englund, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Englund for several years now and have owed him a review for a while. I had a bad (no terrible) car crash in 1981 which left me with spine and leg pain problems no one else could diagnose for 30 years. On a referral I saw Dr. Englund (thanks to Dr. Brown Pro Health) and within an hour he had the solution. I had a compressed lumbar from the crash, or spinal stenosis. It narrowed the room for the nerves in that area and I would pinch nerves giving me up to 4 months of leg pain each time. Dr. Englund got it under control and taught me movements to avoid and how to understand feelings so I could back off and prevent the nerve pinches. Recently a bone fragment broke off a lumbar disc to the point I was disabilitated and Dr. Englund got me through that. I was able to have a normal summer this year because of him. I've gotten to know him well and you couldn't be in better hands if you choose him. On a personal level to him; Jon I can't thank you enough.

“Walk (limp) right in”. Evidently I injured my knee when I tripped during a fitness class - and ignored the pain until it was too painful to walk. Over four appointments Dr Englund addressed the issues created by my neglect: pinched nerve (check); effusion (check), arthritic flare from trauma (check). Eight weeks and I am walking normally. Now it’s up to me to get back to the fitness and develop a regimen to handle what is undoubtedly a chronic condition with the arthritis. I am grateful for Dr Englund’s approach and experience that identified a series of solutions to enable me to be active again.

I saw Dr. Englund through the walk-in clinic. When I first saw him, he seemed to know exactly what my heel and Achilles issue was. It bothered me that no x-rays were taken, but I trusted his advice, and he put me in a walking boot. At my 2nd appointment, this is where things began to get sketchy for me. He literally spent 3-4 mins in the room with me, told me to stop wearing the walking boot and take a powerful NSAID twice a day until I saw him in 6 weeks. Still no x-rays… While making little to no progress, I went to Froedtert for a second opinion…and I’m glad I did. I have a Haglund’s Deformity on BOTH heels which is causing my heel and Achilles pain! Unlike OAW, Froedtert took X-Rays and didn’t waste my time. I have medicated patches for my heels, along with heel lifts, and PT that actually knows what they’re doing! It also wasn’t right that Dr. Englund didn’t tell me that he doesn’t do surgery. I had to find this out through my original PT at ProHealth Care.

Dr. Englund took time to try to figure out where the pain was coming from...very thorough, kind and effective, even though I was a walk in patient. Would highly recommend him.

Wonderful doctor!!! Spends so much time with my daughter, making sure she is properly diagnosed! Thorough exam, asks questions, and makes sure we understand what is going on with her and her ortho issues. Our favorite at OAW!!!

Dr. Englund is thorough, listens well and thoroughly assesses his patients. He is quick to follow up with patients. He takes the time to research to figure out what the problem is and goes out of his way to find the appropriate next step. Even if he can't find the solution to my very complex situation (hey, there isn't always an answer!), I am still very grateful for the extraordinary effort he makes to find the right diagnosis. I'd refer him any time!

I have seen Dr. England several times. I have also taken my son to see him. He is hands down the most patient focused clinician I have ever come across. Honestly, I'm not sure that there is a close second. Never have I felt rushed in any way. He is also wiling to order any necessary tests without any pushback whatsoever. Jon Englund is a breath of fresh air in an era of medicine that has largely become impersonal. If there was a higher rating than five - he would get it from me.
