Amazing experience, best doctor I've ever had
The office does many images and tests they do to make sure you're having everything evaluated, so don't be surprised if there is a delay or the appointment is really long, but it is worth every second for the amount of care and attention you get. Dr. Deaner is the best doctor I've ever encountered with his calming demeanor, patience, experience and specialization, and I would trust him with my life!

Exceptional Service
I came in as a patient who had suffered from shingles attacking the back of both eyes and causing damage to both of my retinas, including significant inflammation. After an extensive exam, I was sent to Will‘s eye in Philly, where I received anti-viral injections in the back of my eyes. From that point on, Dr. Deaner was my physician and I received nothing but top-notch care. He has a very calming disposition and is very good at explaining things in a way that one can understand. His nurse technician, Dee is also amazing and went above and beyond. Even while Dr. Deaner was on vacation, he made it a point to look at the images of my eyes and provide feedback while I was literally sitting in his office. From start to finish, mid Atlantic retina is an amazing place, and Dr. Deaner is top-notch.

Exceptional!!
I lost the center vision in my right eye. Dr. Deaner gave me an extensive exam and the diagnosis was a macular hole. Dr. Deaner explained everything in great detail and answered my many questions. He performed surgery to close the macular hole, repaired my retina, cleaned out the vitreous gel, and inserted a gas bubble for proper healing. I am forever grateful to him for saving my vision and his exceptional surgical skills.I have been to the office several times and every team member is kind and caring. A great experience for me!!

Great Care
I came in as an emergency patient with a torn retina. No appointment. Obviously, I was scared. From my first greeting at the front desk to the last station I went through, they were very professional and caring. They took care of my insurance phone calls and all the hoops that comes from healthcare. The staff kept my family informed of my progress and answered any concerns they had about my care. Dr. Deaner is a top Doc for sure. He gave me the attention I needed and answer all my questions. I highly recommend him for retina surgery.

Wonderful doctor and practice!
Dr. Deaner is hands down one of the best doctors I have met in my life and certainly the best retinal specialist I could ever find. He has carefully monitored my eye condition, which has resolved after listening to his knowledgeable and careful advice. If I ever do need treatment in the future I have full confidence in his expertise. Dr. Deaner and the staff at Mid Atlantic Retina are all kind, patient and professional. My visits there are always stress-free and proceed efficiently. The office is very organized and is in a very convenient location. I highly recommend Dr. Deaner and Mid Atlantic Retina!

Very Positive Experience
Excellent. I had complication from cataract surgery which was diagnosed as a TASS inflammation. After several months of treatment and no improvement, I saw Dr. Deaner and he suspected an infection and scheduled me for surgery the following day. Bottom line, he nailed it. After struggling with vision in one eye, I'm on the road to full recovery.

Dr. Deaner great; staff really bad!
First, the Mid-Atlantic Retina office is pretty bad. They make you feel like cattle, moving you from scanner to scanner, and stuffed into crowded waiting rooms in between. The staff was extremely rude! One woman tried to tape my mask to my face without asking me first (really!), then got upset when I blocked her from doing it as the tape touched my face (I am allergic to adhesive tape). Her supervisor seemed to think I was wrong to block her. If the tech had taken the time to say, "I need to put tape on your face. May I do it now?" and then waited for an answer, any unpleasantness could have been avoided. Big lack of courtesy to patients by the staff! Dr. Deaner is great, but not worth suffering his staff. I won't be going back!
