Dr. Joseph Adducci, MD

I was seen by Dr Adduci when I was a teenager. My complaint was irregular menstrual cycle, including months of missed periods. Dr Adduci examined me, leaned back a little and with a smile told me the problem was, "all in my head" and shut the door as he left the exam room. On the back of that door was a poster of a mostly naked woman and it stated something that today is considered fat shaming. My teenage self esteem went through the floor and I avoided medical care for years because my problem was apparently all in my head. Over time I gained weight, had miscarriage, my hair thinned, suffered depression, and I developed diabetes and endometrial cancer. Other than acne, I had the classic symptoms of PCOS. I remained undiagnosed for years because my problem was all in my head. That's how Dr Adduci affected my life.
