Dr. Joseph Fyans, MD

I was examined by Dr. Fyan for a determination of SSI disability. After sitting in the office for 20 minutes and listening to him joke with a colleague outside the door, he came in and gave me a quick examination. Dr. Fyan concluded I was not suffering from a disability and my claim was denied. This was ridiculous for too many reasons to state here. On appeal, the administrative Judge called Dr. Fyans conclusions "unpersuasive" writing that "his opinion is not well supported with specific rational or explanation. His opinion is not supported with the objective evidence form his own examination..." Whether sloppy, incompetent, or both, I would avoid this doctor if at all possible.

Dr Fyans is good at fitting information into as few black and white categories as possible, which is efficient but not always accurate. He is arrogant, judgmental about illness and lacks compassion. He needs to learn to listen, and that he may not have all the information about his patient before even meeting the patient. He cut me off many times assuming what I was about to say but had it completely wrong. Never allowed me to explain. Never listened to a thing I had to say.

Dr. Fyans is compassionate about his practice. He managed our time well with: prompt appointments, starting with a follow up questionaire, listened to my issues and offerred many solutions. He recommended an experienced PT and helped me with some injections. I'm grateful for his time.
