Dr. Joseph Gugenheim Jr, MD

I am another victim of Joseph Gugenheim. He performed a corrective surgery in 2000 on my leg. I have since never been able to walk again. He changed the entire mechanism of my leg. I have since been a handicap.

26 years ago, I became a victim of an experimental corrective procedure that should have never taken place. The surgery was strongly suggested by Dr. Joseph J. Guggenheim, as well as performed or overseen by him. It was proposed that there would be 100% success and it would prevent me from living with any pain as I grew older. Only mild discomfort and limited areas of movement that rehab and exercise would be able to correct. 26 years later, I have had nothing but extreme chronic pain since that procedure took place. And now, I'm 30 years old and looking at my first hip replacement. Doctors in my area say it's the worst looking hip they've ever seen on a young living person. It has also drastically influenced my decisions in my daily life. As well as has had a profound negative affect on my psyche. I've suffered from acute depression since I was about 10 years old.It's been a very long, bumpy, painful, and difficult road. Mainly due to this procedure that should have never taken place

14 years ago Dr. Guggenheim wanted to amputate our son’s left foot because he had macrodactily on the 2nd,3rd and 4th fingers. He told us a scar on the bottom part of the foot will never be ok, and that he would be uncomfortable, like walking with a rock on his foot. And that there weren’t prosthesis only from the foot, so he proposed to amputate all the way to his knee. We decided to look for other opinions. We ended up treating him in the Children’s Hospital at Boston. There he had surgery and they took off the 3 fingers only, not the whole foot! Now, 14 years after we are glad we decided not to do what Dr. Guggenheim proposed. He’s now a great hockey player on the Mexican Selection Team.
