A fine Doctor who is eminently qualified and whom I was lucky enough to get squeezed in for an appointment for a lower back and hip problem which was seriously interfering with my sleep and ambulating on stairs. After few questions about the nature of my pain, he proceeded to examine me and gave me my diagnosis. I walked out with a referral for some physical therapy. I would definitely recommend a friend to him with no reservations.

I had a terrible sports injury out of state that seriously damaged both my knees I flew home the following day by air ambulance My primary care doctor’s office at St Jude Heritage got me into see Dr Mayo whose office kindly squeezed me in immediately. He was very personable and agreed that surgery needed to be performed quickly to avoid permanent and crippling damage to ligaments tendons etc Although his surgical schedule was booked up for a month he operated on me within 48 hours I felt like the luckiest guy on the planet to have a knee and hip specialist that I had never met be willing to drop everything and repair me immediately His follow up these last 6 months has exceeded my expectations plus he helped get into a great physical therapy program with St Jude that has been imperative to get me walking and driving again I am greatly indebted to Dr. Mayo Have met a dozen people who have used him or worked with professionally who revere him

Dr. Mayo replaced both my hips about 7 years ago due to RA. I am so thankful for his wonderful surgical expertise and very considerate heart! I was out walking with my normal stride within a month or so! Besides being an amazing surgeon, Dr. Mayo is a genuine, kind and funny guy! Always makes you smile! Thank you Dr. Mayo! I’ll see you soon for my shoulder! ~ JoAnn Valencia

Dr. Mayo instilled confidence in me at a time when I needed it. I believed right away in his skill set and that he was the right MD for the job. Personable and direct with his time and knowledge. He did a beautiful job for me and has been readily available throughout my process. Very thorough and touched all bases.

How many Doctors would return your phone call? Dr Mayo gives his patients a clear, complete and concise review of their condition. I would recommend the Dr. to my family and friends.

Dr Joseph Mayo III is the BEST. I had a total hip replacement, July 10, 2018. I can not say enough about how efficient this doctors office and staff are. They are a great fined tuned machine with personalities.. I am loving the care Dr Mayo gave me. Great bedside manner. He cares about his patients and is a wonderful Dr. I am not used to such efficiency is a Dr's office. I wouldn't hesitate using him if I had another need.

This skilled, kind, humble and compassionate man performed my hip replacement surgery and let me just put it this way: I now carry his business cards with me to hand out with a high recommendation. Why? I only wish that someone would have done the same for me when I was suffering so terribly and wasting precious time out of my life with other doctors rather than my having to find Dr. Mayo almost by accident by myself. I am happy to help guide someone else to the excellent care that I received.

An embarrassingly bad doctor. Condescending and rude. He is a complete hack who had no idea why I was in his office and went against specific instruction he gave 2 weeks after my surgery by saying I needed to walk and be moving. He specifically said that I needed to stay off my feet and when I questioned him about the change in my recovery plan he said that he never told me that and essentially called me a liar. Terrible doctor and a liar to save his own butt. I hope the old man retires soon!

Dr. Mayo replaced my hip nearly 5 years ago. Excellent surgeon and I was snorkeling in Cozumel 2 1/2 months later. He believes in letting the patient set recovery limits instead of rigid rules. I highly recommend Dr. Joe.

I visited Dr. Mayo after 5 years of intense pain, sleepless nights, and inability to walk any distance. And I was only 56 when I first saw him. Since then he has replaced both my hips and changed my life. I can sleep at night, walk for miles, and really just live my life again. Dr. Mayo really pays attention to his patients - he really sees you unlike many doctors I have been to. I feel so lucky to have found him and so grateful to him for what he has done for me.

Dr. Mayo spent time with me, gave me a cortisone shot in my foot where he saw the problem in the x-ray, and discussed the issue in terms I understood easily. His instincts and confidence have proven that all I need is to have some old injury cartilage scraped off, super simple procedure compared to months of rehab another doctor concluded which would have been the wrong procedure anyway. I love this doctor. He is friendly, professional, caring, and I have complete confidence in him.

ALWAYS late for appointments (and always apologizes, but plan to sit around waiting). To date (after 3 visits spread out over several months, I have received no benefit except to be told that some knee pain is normal with age and that I should get used to it.
