His fees are too high. Charged me, luckily my insurance paid, "$700 plus an ultrasound I have to pay. OB-Gyn Dr's in San Diego are much cheaper. Because of his fees I will not go back. I am 72 yrs old and a former RN.

I had my fourth baby last night and I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Ortiz. My son’s heart rate kept dropping and it was a scary experience. Dr. Ortiz stayed in the room the whole time and was so patient and tried so many things when my baby was in distress- he stayed calm and I really think most other doctors would have taken me for a c-section sooner. I delivered him vaginally thanks to Dr. Ortiz. He took great care of us and we named our son Joseph, after Dr. Ortiz.

Let me start by saying I would give Dr. Ortiz 5 stars and high recommendation to friends, but his office's scheduling is awful. Last summer I called to make my annual appt in June. There were no appts in June or July and was told the August schedule wasn't open yet. What? I forgot to call back and hence I've gone a whole year without being seen. I called today and the same thing..May and June are full and July schedule not open. What?? This is HIGHLY unacceptable & I have never experienced this.

I don't have enough good things to say about Dr. Ortiz. He really listened to my concerns and what I wanted for my birth plan- the result was as close to a pain-free and easy childbirth imaginable. He gave clear, no-BS answers to questions & honest risk-assessments for each choice. This was my second birth and I wasn't looking for hand-holding but for who could best be able to guide us if any complications came up. He also was sweet with my 3yo daughter, letting her help measure my belly.

He was rude, he dismissed everything I was saying, and I was sent out of the office with my problems still present because I was told "that's just how my body is." After going to another doctor I found out about all of the issues I had going on. Thanks to this terrible excuse of a doctor, I am now years behind when this could have been treated and fixed long ago.
