I have nerve damage after double jaw surgery to my whole face. He is not compassionate! He put his hand up in my face for me to stop talking when I was trying to explain my pain a few months after surgery which turned out to be nerve damage. His residents under him were horrid as well and followed his attitude. They ALL laughed at me like I was some sorta hypochondriac. My family even witnessed how I was treated. I wish I’d never met this man. You could’ve at least LISTENED to me as YOUR patient and I would’ve gotten treatment a lot sooner than the suffering I’ve gone through! I caution anyone considering this surgeon to seek other options!

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Van Sickels for double jaw surgery. Yes, they triple book almost all appointments, and the wait time for your appointment is almost always over an hour, but it is a teaching hospital with more pt. volume than most other surgeons’ offices. Would you rather wait 4 hours in office or be scheduled months out? You’re not paying for a short wait time, you’re paying for an incredible, experienced surgeon to break your face and experience the least amount of complications. Additionally, when there is an emergency, I was in the same or next day. My facial numbness and swelling were 10x less than expected and way less than what I’ve seen in other patients and am thrilled with my results. If you want a short wait time, go to a doctor who isn’t highly-sought after, whose pt. volume is low, who is inexperienced, and who won’t provide the same results. Find something else to complain about. I would recommend Dr. Van Sickels to any of my family or friends.

On October 26 I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. 10 days later had go return in order to have right lower gum lanced. The staff nurses & such were super sweet. Tge doctor hisself barely talked to me. I had to call several times in order to be seen for my right lower gum being infected. The 2 surgeon I seen was ery friendly tried to help. I am still swollen. Just unsure what to think.

Drove an hour and half from Louisville, waited in waiting room for an hour to find out that they had triple booked my appointment, that only one DR. was there that day and I could wait longer if I wanted..... Drove my hour and a half home and never seen Dr. Van Sickels. A phone call that morning to say they had triple books my time to save me 4 hours of wasted time would have been greatly appreciated.

I would NOT recommend anyone seeing this Oral Surgeon if you have any complex jaw surgery or revision case. I traveled out of state to see him for a consultation, he did not take any medical imaging, or discuss my diagnosis, or how to fix my condition, then referred me out to a surgeon in texas who costs $50,000 then left the room. I asked his nurse if he knows how to fix my condition and he said yes. He didn't want to put the time and effort into helping me.

If I could leave a zero star I would. His staff did not care about my intense pain after surgery.

I had a double jaw surgery and my bottom set of wisdom teeth in August of 2015. Dr. Van Sickles and every doctor on his team were amazing and treated me the very best. My surgery couldn't have went any better. My facial swelling was not near as intense as expected and went down surprisingly fast. My jaws also healed up very fast. I have nothing but nice things to say about Dr. Van Sickles and all his staff.
