Doctor Escalates and Gets Embarrassed
Assistant exaggerates an irrelevant situation. Dr. Holyoak comes in ready to escalate and then does it. Then melts down after learning the hard honest truth of a troubled surgery he was directly involved in, irrelevant of the assistant situation. Get second opinions if you are dealing with any practice. You want the best help. And the least evasive surgery possible. My personal situation is I did not get it and I’m damaged possibly forever. There is no exaggeration here. The industry will call it “complications' but clearly it was more than that. I’m one of those 2%. But do you really need 2% when you can get close to zero with a less evasive surgery? Get second opinions always. No matter how busy you are, please. Shocking a stone always, ALWAYS needs to be considered first. Unless you want to end up like me.

Mistreated us and dismissed our sons kidney tumor
He completely disrespected us and dismissed our sons kidney tumor, who ended up having a complete nephrectomy (kidney removal) when we went to a different doctor for a second opinion. He was very defensive and treated us very poorly.

Difficult care & communication experience
I underwent minor surgery with Dr. Holyoak, which unfortunately led to serious complications, necessitating multiple ER visits and a lengthy absence from work. My concerns are not just about the skillset leading to complications, but are more about the post-operative care & communication. I experienced significant difficulties in communicating with Dr. Holyoak post-surgery. His accessibility and responses were reactive only, delayed, and very condescending. I found it very challenging to receive follow-up information and to get the necessary medications. In speaking with others, I discovered that my experience is not unique. I encountered 3 former patients & 2 other specialty physicians who also shared similar experiences of poor communication & care of Dr. Holyoak. I am sharing my experience to help others make informed decisions, as this is the kind of information I wish I had known beforehand. Your mileage may also vary.
