Never met this surgeon while conscious
Dr. Urvater repaired a bad wrist fracture on me with a rod and screws. However, I NEVER MET THE MAN WHILE CONSCIOUS. His physician assistant (PA) did the pre- and post-op appointments. The tech removing my stitches asked if Urvater was my surgeon because, according to the tech, Urvater had known poor suturing skills and my sutures were a mess. Although my wrist seems to have healed OK, I would not return to Urvater for future care.

Expert surgeon, I'm sure the mechanical fix will hold up. But the med group is utterly incompetent in pre-op and after care. My daughter had a 5 hour complex repair for a compound fracture in her femur. No one from the surgical team ever visited her in the hospital except for the 5 minutes before they wheeled her into the OR. No one ever returned mine or her calls. No one provided any after care instructions. No one refilled her RX, or provided info @ how to use them. This med practice has ZERO protocols for patient care. BTW, their waiting room is dangerously crowded and narrow even though all their patients are temporarily disabled. These people are the ultimate Ortho stereotypes: they chose a specialty that ensures their patients will always be unconscious.

Dr. Urvater operated on my left hip fracture and left wrist on an emergency basis after an accidental fall. Due to Covid-19 hospital restrictions, my husband & family could not be present during the surgeries and thereafter during my five-days hospital stay. Dr. Urvater communicated with my husband via phone call and text messages to give post operation status report and followed up promptly with text messages we posed. Met with him after 7 weeks, and gave plenty of time and answered all questions with detailed explanation. Easy to communicate and felt reassured with positive feedback.

He was extremely rude. I will never allow myself to be seen under his care again. He was comparing a totally unrelated nerve condition in my arm to my knee injury, and told me the pain was my fault.
