Dr. Joshua Vaughn, MD

After a botched foot reconstruction by a local Podiatrist, a year long search for a good foot surgeon which I commenced in Boston - ended with Dr. Vaughan in Portland (Maine). I was very lucky because Dr. Vaughan repaired the botched foot and 'reconstructed' both feet in two separate surgeries and two years later I can say that Dr. Vaughn gave me a better life than I might have had otherwise.

I first met Dr. Vaughn at Downeast Orthopedics. He was very thorough with explaining my visit and what he could do for me, but, told he was leaving for Maine Medical in Portland. So I searched for another doctor. I was very unsuccessful. Approximately two plus years later I made an appointment with Dr. Vaughn and took the trip to Portland. I am very happy that I did. He actually remembered me. I highly recommend him 100 per ent.Ease of appointments. Staff is courteous. Office clean friendly environment. Dr. Vaughn is a very caring and informative. Thank you for all you have done for me.

I have been dealing with ankle pain for years. Soft braces, hard braces and injections. Dr Vaughn was AWESOME. Patient with my questions, not pushy and very caring. I had a full ankle replacement in April 2023. I followed the post op instructions and now after 3 months I'm going back to work Full-time walking on a cement floor all day. I'm looking forward to fishing with my grandson. Thank you Dr Vaughn for giving me a pain-free lifestyle.

Dr Vaughn operated on my right leg for nerve pain two months ago and I have zero pain relief. Today he said there is nothing more he can do. I have no confidence that what he actually did was the correct procedure. I am now seeking a second opinion from a different doctor.

He’s the absolute nicest,professional and an excellent personality.He takes time to explain every aspect of the procedure,lays out the pros and cons.He’s definitely a stand up guy and makes you feel secure.Highly recommend him and his staff

Dr. Vaughn was very kind and professional. I was having a terrible time with the hardware that a different Dr had put in. The other Dr would not even consider taken them out but Dr Vaughn did. I'm much better. I would recommend him.

I would 100% recommend Dr.Vaughn to any and everyone! he was very nice and professional and explained things in detail to the point where when he asked me if I had any questions I had none! the process was very quick and easy!

Every time I see Dr Vaughn, he is very personal I feel he really cares about my condition (drop foot) and he doesn't rush me to make a decision. I'm not happy he is leaving the end of the year but I totally understand. The people in Portland are going to be very lucky to have him. If I decide to have surgery on my foot, my plans will be to have it done by Dr. Vaughn before he leaves.

Dr. Vaughn is a wonderful doctor. I would recommend him as "the orthopedic doctor". I met him at the hospital with my mom, age 82, who had a horrible fall - broken bones. He helped my family understand what she needed, preformed the surgery and followed her through her healing with such care and kindness. She is back using her arm thanks to him. He is the BEST!
