My mother, who was 79 & relatively healthy, had a blockage in her LAD artery. They were unable to put a stint in, so Dr. Nakano performed open heart surgery (double bypass). She had this done on 10.24.24. She was awake the next day and sitting in a chair. She knew where she was & what was going on. By 10.29 she suffered a significant headache in the back of her neck and up her head. 10.30 her hemoglobin was 6.3 (for 3 days straight), she didn’t know where she was or why she was there. I & several nurses had to recommend she needed blood. He didn't want to give it & it took some insistance. I asked him that day to check to see if she had a stroke. He said if she did, he'd know it. By 11.8, she did suffer a stroke and died on 11.9. Nobody in Canton CC was willing to admit it had anything to do with the open heart surgery on 10.24. Nobody there listened to my concerns or requests. If your loved one needs heart surgery, fight to get them to the Cleveland Main Campus!

Excellent surgeon
My husband needed emergency bypass surgery. Dr. Nakano explained in detail what he would also do to repair my husband's mitral valve. He answered all of our questions, and we were very confident going into this procedure. Also the attending cardiac nurses told us what an excellent surgeon he is. 6 months later my husband is doing great! Highly recommend this surgeon who also taught cardiac surgery at Northwestern.

Confidence builder
Was told I needed open heart surgery to do a bypass, wife and I met with Dr.Nakano yesterday and in an instant he alleviated all my fears! Spoke with confidence and clarity and my surgery is scheduled for September 12th, I feel I am in great hands with him and his team. No sugar coating, he said procedure itself will be an easy one for him. Wife will have long tough day in waiting room, and I will feel like I got hit by 18 big rigs the next day. But I figured that,it was just nice to hear from him and his team to tell me the truth. I know it will be long recovery but will do everything the staff tells me to do and we feel I will have a grest outcome. He us also doing a MAZE procedure to fix my Afib. He explained it very well and although surgery will take around 7 hours I have 100% confidence that I will come out just fine and have a long life. I will updste all of you reading this as my journey progresses

This is the WORST surgeon. My mother is 5 weeks post op and he has seen her ZERO times. She has an awful infection and he has seen her ZERO times despite an infection that resulted in a re-admission. This is a person that should NEVER be allowed to see humans! STAY AWAY
