Terrible experience with NP
I went to this office for my first time to have a rash on my arm checked and a skin cancer check. My GP thought my rash might be psoriasis. The NP came in, took one look at the rash and said I was having an allergic reaction and would need to start steroid injections right away. I told her that the rash had been there for many months without changing shape or size and that I'd rather identify the allergen and eliminate it instead of starting steroids if that was my diagnosis. She asked why I didn't want steroid injections, when I paused to respond, she interjected and said "You don't even know, do you." in a very condescending way. I opted not to receive the injections and do an allergy testing with my GP instead. When it came time for my skin cancer check, she had me undress right in front of her. She didn't turn around or leave the room which made me uncomfortable. For the check, she ran her bare hands over my body very quickly (it reminded me of a TSA check or something of the sor

Very rude office staff
The CEO ask me to leave before I got to see anyone. The girl at the front desk had to run in and tell the CEO I had a 17 yo 10 lb senior service dog in a enclosed stroller. I just drove almost 2 hours to see this dermatologist for skin help I really needed. I told the front desk girl my wife thinks this is her service dog. And she thought I said this is my wife’s service dog. She misunderstood me and thought the dog was my wife’s. Well she had to go tell the CEO who came out in the waiting room and asked me to come back when my wife got home. He was unwilling to listen to what I had to say, and walked me to their front door. I’m 70 and it’s not easy to drive 4 hours round trip plus fuel cost to get help and to be turned away by office staff who don’t care about you at all…Very negative experience for trying to get help for yourself I will never go back there.

Dr. McElroy and her staff are very professional! I understand she may be the only Dermatologist in Kona that accepts insurance so that being said granted there will be a wait time and yes you might be waiting to see her 30 or 40 minutes past your actual scheduled appt time but I fully trust her and her decisions towards my health.

Her office refused treatment to my husband because they don't take HMSA INTEGRATION MEDICAL. I don't understand the reasoning behind it, but the made my husband feel awful, and they just told him SORRY. It was said to him after they placed him in a room. They told him it'll cost him $170.00 to continue. AMAZING, how much gauging the price is. My husband had seen her before for SKIN CANCER ISSUES. HOW UNCARING COULD A OFFICE BE. What is the difference in medicals? WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS DOCTOR & THE STAFF IS AWFUL...P

I definitely would not recommend Dr McElroy. She (and her assistant) missed a basal cell, a squamous cell AND a melanoma on my husband! Does it get any worse?

Never got to see Dr. McElroy, saw someone else in her office, what a rip off, my husband waited more in the waiting room than in the exam room and less than 15 minutes this practice charged $390.00+ to remove a skin tag, really, I do not recommend this dermatology and my husband's Internal Medicine doctor recommended her, NOT GOOD, even our insurance company questioned her charge, total RIP OFF AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER AND WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HER, BETTER OFF GOING BACK TO THE MAINLAND!!!!

I have been coming here for a few years but will not again. Every appointment I have made I have been forced to wait hours past my appointment time to be seen. For this last appointment I was slightly late due to an accident and they would not take me. I drive over 2.5 hours to get here and they are aware. They devalue their patients time and treat them rudely.

My Dr. for 13 years, I thought she was a good dermatologist and cared about me. Then I had a spot on my eyelid and she said she did not know if I would be able to see for a while when she gave me the shot.. When she came in, I was looking up what might happen to my eye, on my phone and she did not like that and said I am not going to do it but will send you to a eye doctor/dermatologist. So because I was concerned about my eye sight, she had staff call to tell me not to ever come back again!

I have had difficulty with Eczema for 20 years. When I have a flare up it can be debilitating. Dr. McElroy, has finally found a combination of oinments and antihistamines to effectively treat this condition. I am extremely grateful for this relief. Over the many years I have seen every type of Dr. there is and no one has been able to help me as much. Thanks! I hghly recommend this Dermatologist.

I highly recommend Dr. McElroy. She was very accurate in her diagnosis & of this facial rash that just appeared while on vacation in Hawaii. Her staff was excellent at getting me in to see her so that I avoided a trip to the ER. Plus,I never felt rushed like with other doctors. Thanks for helping me & saving my vacation.
