Dr. Joyce Czuprynski, MD

At age 16 my daughter developed Chiari malformation type I, a serious neurological condition causing blurred vision and repeated fainting. UC Davis interns said her symptoms were psychological due to stress, as they were not an exact match for the suspected condition. Dr. Joyce accepted this despite a diagnosis and treatment plan from a respected neurosurgeon. My daughter underwent surgery 5-years ago and was cured completely. Without surgery her disabling condition could have led to paralysis.

had a terrible experience with Dr Joyce. She did not show any kind of concern for my then 5 month old who was crying (teething) and uncomfortable but instead repeatedly berrated me about not getting her vaccinated. (I want to wait until she is older). It was just a horrible experience. And this after they had me wait 1 hour. They had expected me to wait with a naked child (they ask you to undress for weighing) for that long??? I have never had a good experience here - this was the worst.

Dr Joyce is great with kids; I trust her opinion and diagnoses. Basing my review on her alone, 5 stars. But alas, the office staff plays a role. The wait times can be up to an hour, but usually 45 minutes if it's later in the day. The doc asst is a non-smiling curmudgeon. I took my child in for a vaccination, and while he was crying after, the asst came in to put a bandaid on it and didn't care if she hit the target (she didn't). C- for The Help. I recommend the Dr J, but loathe the staff.
