I had a terrible motorcycle accident with 16 broken ribs. We contacted him for a 2nd opinion after horrible care Med Center Trama Doctors. He was straight forward and honest about my condition and my options. He left the decision to my wife and myself. The surgery went great and the recovery fine. He saved my life. The CHI Trama team and rehabilitation teams did great. If you want a doctor who coddles you pick someone else. If you want a doctor who is a straight shooter and can bring you through a tough surgery then he's the one to go with.

(continued from above)...he wouldn't let me in the room. As I stood in the hallway, he proceeded to tell me how much money CHI paid him to come here, how many brain surgeries he's done, how many surgeries he's done in other countries. All while he had his feet up in the nurses station outside the room. This man has terrible bedside manner. I wouldn't even recommend him to my worst enemy. He has no business being the vice chair of the trauma surg program, he is not a role model, in my opinion.

I am not sure why Dr. Asensio was seeing my husband who is at the Creighton University ICU from a riding accident. He did not operate on him, and instead of giving me an update on my husband's condition, decided to give me a tirade about how my husband should not ride and how drug addicts, drunk drivers ...he added a few more.. mess up the system. When I respond that my husband is neither a drug addict nor does he drink and drive, he continued on his tirade. He has no business caring for anyone!
