Thankful to have found Dr. Waterbury
I have been going to this office for almost a decade but usually saw PAs as Dr. Waterbury was not my primary when I first started. I never actually saw my original primary in this office and met Dr. Waterbury in 2022. I am so thankful I finally met him. I have an HMO and they are not always the easiest to navigate. Seeing Dr. Waterbury is so seemless. He really listens and spends time with me when we meet in person. He asks thoughtful questions, doesn't rush me, and listens as I explain my history and current concerns. I am thankful that I finally found him and hope he doesn't leave.

Ignored Medical Anomalies and Worsening Symptoms
Spent a few years working with Waterbury. Completely ignored my medical issues and anomalies in tests, insulting my family when I suggested what could be wrong. Had to switch doctors after 6 months of severe illness due to his lack of any support. Also his medical license was once revoked due to showing up to work drunk. In no small exaggeration, if you value your life avoid this man like the plague.

Arrogant, doesn’t listen, don’t recommend
Wow I wish I had read more reviews on this MD prior to selecting him as a PCP over a year ago. He is arrogant, disrespectful, and dismissive. He makes assumptions without taking to the patient or even having the diligence to ask questions. Every other negative review is right in the money. I always felt rushed while he wasted my precious (and very expensive) 20 minutes with his ignorant anecdotes that did not relate to me or my visit whatsoever. I’ve never liked him but never had time to contact insurance to change provider. God forbid one of his PTs has an iota of knowledge about their condition. He will immediately shut you down and scoff. His license is up for renewal this year. I hope he puts it to bed. No bedside manner. Makes inappropriate comments in office visits, and according to his notes, lies on chart notes. Beware of this reckless man. And I recommend googling his CA medical board record. That will confirm your decision!

Dr. Waterbury is superb
Dr. Waterbury is gifted and thoughtful. I am never rushed and he is so so thorough and explains things efficiently. He is always calm and has a marvelous quiet sense of humor and is interested in my WHOLE health, all of me. I trust, respect, and admire his deep expertise, background and knowledge. He also listens to me (be it telemedia call, email, or in person and is very responsive) too. And he is a really nice guy, too!

I saw this MD today - I try to see an MD once a year to get yearly labs (family history of a bunch of stuff). I had a list of other things I wanted addressed, including back pain and referrals to different specialists. It started off well enough - but he then cut me off and stated that he needed to go see another patient. When I stopped him to ask for labs he stated he doesn’t order labs unless I have symptoms. That is what’s wrong with the health care system; there’s no teaching/practicing preventative measures and trending labs like hemoglobin a1c to help prevent things like Diabetes. Unless you’re health care illiterate and want a cookie cutter approach to health care, I would not see this MD.

No bedside manner. Very rude and very arrogant. Dont let him know that you know more in an area than him or he will belittle you. I've changed doctors and they have found a 4 1/2 - 5 pound mass comming from my right ovary. I kept sskinghim why my period stopped when I should be having it. I told him my abdomen felt swollen. He did nothing for me. My last visit with him I was waiting for him in one of the exam rooms. He walked in and said "WOW look at the size of that stomach".....I was beyond words. If he would have done his job and helped me instead of insulting me, he would have found out himself......that hee the size of that stomach could be directly related to that big mass she has in there....rushes you out, cuts you off and he us dishonest.

My experience with Waterberry @ Dr. Sokolov’s office was similar to other patient reviews. He seems arrogant. He scoffed at my surgeon’s approach without bothering to understand my condition, yet declined my request to be referred to another surgeon for a 2nd opinion. He also cut me off mid question saying he didn’t have anymore time for me as he had a schedule to keep. I have never felt dismissed by a doctor before. I understand medicine is a business but I expect my doctor to pretend they care

One visit was enough. Worst physician I've ever seen. Uncaring, unprofessional, walked out right at "time limit" mid-sentence with "You may not realize, but you aren't our only patient." Interrogated me on a genetic testing-confirmed blood disease. Asked why my body processes iron differently than his; it's because I have a confirmed condition that increases iron absorption, which he already knew. His solution = do not consume iron, and you won't need hematologist or phlebotomies.

When I was first moved over to Dr. Waterbury (Dr. Jeanette Frei, owner of Circle of Life Medicine, had suffered a head injury and was out indefinitely), he presented as knowledgable, friendly, and caring. I do believe that he is still friendly and caring, but I'm not so sure about knowledgable.

The initial visit I told him about a problem I was having and he utterly ignored me, the second visit I spoke to him about this and he was so obsessed with a prior diagnosis I had that he couldn't conceive of the possibility that I may be having a different problem entirely. I guess his patients are only allowed to have one problem. I need to move on to a real doctor.

Phone hours are limited to only certain times of the business day. If you can not reach them to cancel an upcoming appointment 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment, you are threatened with a $50 no show fee.
