Belittling and condescending. As a type 1 diabetic who struggled to gain control of a disease she was in denial of for 25 years, I came to her with hope for help. From our first appointment, she let me know that if I did not fit her mold, she would drop me as a patient. From an A1C above a 15 for 5+ years, I finally got it to. 13.2 and was elated with excitement to see progress. Instead of celebrating the small wins with me, she asked why they were still so high, and still had yet to send in my PA forms to get me on my devices. There was no winning with her. Worst doctor I have ever seen.

Outstanding!
Dr. Matthews' is brilliant and so kind. She took the time to listen to my health challenges and strategize solutions, and was very thorough. Her nurse was very helpful and gave me her direct line if I had any questions as a new patient - parking, appointment details, etc. I left very pleased with my experience and will continue my care with Dr. Matthews!

I’ve had type one diabetes for 20 years. Dr. Matthew’s is condescending and does not take the time to listen to me. It is nearly impossible to reach her office staff by phone. They are quick to charge unnecessary fees. They always send my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. I would look for another endo before choosing her.

Awful Doctor and Staff
This doctor is condescending and patronizing. She also doesn’t allow the patient to be an active part in their own care. Also doesn’t seem to have knowledge about my condition. Her appointment staff is rude, and they have terrible policies. They jump very quickly to charging you fees and also quickly threaten to terminate you from their practice if you don’t do what they want. They also don’t answer their phone. Not a very understanding office whatsoever. I will not be returning.

Do not use this doctor’s office!
I called to say I may be 10 mins late to my appointment and they told me to “find another endocrinologist”. What?! For 10 mins?! They’re ridiculous! And you better hope life never happens and you run late. They are not understanding in the very least

Best endocrinologist doctor / experience
Dr. Matthews is the best endocrinologist I have ever had (over 20 years of many different docs). I found her by chance through my employer's health plan, and I am so happy I did. I always feel heard (she never dismisses my concerns), and for the first time I feel I have a partner in my health care. Dr. Matthews listens and authentically wants my best health outcomes, and guides my care accordingly. I actually enjoy my check-ups because I always leave feeling hopeful about my health condition. I highly recommend Dr. Matthews.

I was referred to Dr. Matthews after several abnormal thyroid blood tests in addition to family history of thyroid problems. Dr. Matthews told me that lots of people want to blame their thyroid when they gain weight and said that nothing was wrong with mine. She then put uncontrolled obesity in my medical record and stated that I am inactive (I'm not -- I'm a professional fitness instructor and teach/practice 4/5 times a week) and said that I am resistant to eating healthy (also, I'm not. I do eat healthy, but I was resistant to calorie counting due to disordered eating struggles). Overall, this experience made me very sad and feel quite dismissed. I still feel angry and unheard when I open my medical record and see the notes.

I truly cannot recommend Dr. Matthews enough. She spent over thirty minutes with me and would have happily spent more. She is incredibly patient and compassionate, and she handles sensitive topics with care. The nurses and lab techs in the office are also great. If you need an endocrinologist, you should definitely visit her.
