Dr. Julie Chen, MD

I’m a long time pt of Sutter Ophthalmology, with well controlled diabetes, blood pressure, glaucoma. Because of complete vision loss in one eye, it’s imperative I participate in caring for what vision remains. I was disappointed with the poor communication during my visit w/ Dr Chen and ancillary staff. Doctor did not discuss eye pressures, review meds, ask @general health at all. The staff did not review my chart prior to visual exam or instruct well during the eye tests. In directing the visual exam they somehow thought by speaking more “loudly” it w/ replace providing direction. Dr Chen handed back my( req'd) DMV form and said, “I don’t know if this will pass” Vs discussing the current changes to my vision. The impact vision loss has on my life is important to me. I’ve not had a more “care-less” approach by any Sutter physician(s) who have teamed up and taken great care of my visual and general health over the years. I am always very pleased with visits to Dr. Julie Chen. She is thorough, professional, but also makes you feel like she is concerned like a friend. I would recommend Dr. Chen to anyone who cares or concerned about their eyes.

Very poor interaction with Dr Chen. Did not have the opportunity to ask questions nor provide input into my care plan, very little personal interaction. Staff and admin were great. When I needed assistance for the VA I was shunned.
