HORRIBLE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!

I agree with everything the other reviewers have posted!!! This woman should NOT be allowed to practice any kind of mental health counseling but especially for kids!! She was horrible at therapy so we had to find a therapist to actually help my son with his problems but had to keep paying this useless woman to get his meds filled. Our medical coverage is terrible and our copays are high so there were times we couldn’t pay right away. They wouldn’t make another appt to fill his meds until we paid!!! What kind of dr. does that to a child who could go through withdrawal or spiral downwards without their medications?? Due to covid she was the only child psychiatrist with availability but now we are switching providers asap!!!

Do NOT see Furst
Zero bedside manner, not helpful with answering our questions pertaining to the diagnosis, more concerned/wastes an incredible amount of time asking where we are, who is there, what the car make and model are if session was during school hours, and what state we were in. After that wasteful diatribe, the battery of questions that we just filled out online was asked again and then the expectation of the parent to figure things out was unprofessional, uncaring, and inappropriate. Our child was sad, down, upset, crying, and questioning their mental health after each and every meeting. It would take days for them to regroup due to the amount of suicide and depression questions asked when my child does t even have that diagnosis. Due to Covid and the increase in children needing help, we were told she was the only one available- now I know why. Even the receptionist warned us that “she has her own way”. Stay. Away.

Awful Experience – Jul 08, 2023

Terrible doctor
If I could give her negative stars, I would. I saw her for over a year for therapy and med management, and my mental health has only deteriorated, and seeking a higher level of care in IOP. During the first intake session, I was crying, and she was very uncaring after reviewing sensitive medical history. She has terrible bedside manners and is very passive aggressive, and she has shown that she does not hear or understand my concerns. She has thrown out various serious mental illness diagnoses that were unfounded and contradictory, which have left me confused and worried about my mental health. Even with support from my new therapist, she would still not change my meds or treatment plan after she convinced me to give her another chance since therapy did not work out between us. I have finally ended my professional relationship with her after her practices have added to my depression, anxiety, and frustration and not adequately addressing my health concerns.

Absolute Nightmare- could not recommend less
I had been working with a NP at the same practice, but he left and I was placed with Dr.Furst. I was expecting a relatively short introduction and check-in, but despite having access to my chart and the information I gave to the last provider, she started a completely new intake. She was quick, interrogating, and insensitive in the delivery of her very sensitive questions- many of which could've been answered by my chart or not asked at all given the nature of the visit. I felt I had no room to provide the necessary nuance when responding, providing half-truths just to get through the visit. She was harsh when I became understandably upset, and when I explained I was caught off guard by the intense and seemingly invasive questions, she told me she "didn't know about the NPs but she treats the whole patient" and then promptly proceeded with her poor bedside manner. I was terrified for the majority of the appointment and ended up sobbing for a while after, completely bewildered.

No Bed side manner
Dr Furst has no bed side manner. She seems distant and uncaring. I asked her several times if she could refill my kids prescriptions. I even left several messages with her secretary. I have never had trouble with a psychiatrist refilling prescriptions, my child could withdrawal from these meds. My son could end up in the emergency room without these meds from withdrawal. She spends at least 10 minutes just asking what everyone's name is their birthday, and who else is the room. My kids think she is strange.

Concerned parent – Oct 18, 2022

For a mental health professional she did not create a safe and welcoming environment for patients. I didn’t feel listened to, my symptoms felt disregarded, she came across as very cold and calculating, and despite my best efforts to answer intense and emotionally challenging questions she would persist in asking the same question with increasingly frustrated tone until I gave an answer that satisfied her charts. I would not recommend her to anyone who wants to feel cared for by a doctor.

One appointment with Dr. Furst had a very bad affect on my mental health. She is very fast to judge trauma survivors for situations that they were exposed to. Seeing her has set me back, I have been seeking validation that her conclusions she jumped to weren’t true. Anyone I asked has given me that validation. Put your mental health first and don’t see Dr. Furst
