I went to her once and that was enough evidence for me to find a new doctor. Dr. Nickles was dismissive, condescending, and had a judgmental tone in her words. Especially in her after-visit summary notes! I had slightly elevated liver enzymes on my blood panel, which she then quickly assumed it was alcohol related. I drink lightly, and at the time it was almost none. She persisted to assume it was alcohol induced. I mentioned I had begun lifting weights recently and read that sore muscles trigger release of the same enzymes. She blamed it on drinking and pre-workout, without even knowing the ingredients of pre-workout. (she actually stated she did not know what pre-workout was, but blamed it anyway!?). She was very pushy about birth control, and when I rejected wanting to start contraceptives at that time, it felt like she was berating me for it! Anyway, I have since found a great Dr. at Scripps! If you want a compassionate and knowledgeable doctor, don't go to Dr. Nickles.

When I lived in York, PA, I was a patient of Julie Nickles (she doesn’t deserve to be called a doctor). As a 12 year old, I tore my ACL and for months she refused to send me to a specialist and denied I had any severe injury for months. Meanwhile, my knee would suddenly buckle from walking. After months, she finally referred me to a real doctor who took my medical case seriously and I had an ACL and meniscus repair. In addition, I saw Nickles until I was 18 and moved out of York for college. I received monthly allergy shots and she and her nurses were rude to my immigrant parents and I. Now, I am about to be a doctor from Georgetown University, and thinking back, Julie Nickles most certainly needed racial bias training. Needless to say, I recommend seeing a medical student over her

I trusted Dr Julie nickles find out why I had a persistent cough but she quickly diagnosed me as a heart patient and prescribed heart procedures which months later put me into the hospital with anemia which she could have found right off the bat had she done a simple blood exam. The heart doctor and hospital questioned why the simple procedure was not done. On my last visit to Dr Julie Nickles she refused to see me.

I was a regular patient of Dr. Nickles for years and consistently kept up with my appointments every 3 months. I moved out of state and had to find a new doctor. When I did, I filled out the paperwork to have my records transferred. Two weeks later I received a letter requesting $96 to have my records transferred, stating that the state of PA "allows" (NOT "requires") a doctor to to charge a fee for this service. Her optional choice to charge for sending electronic files is proves it's about $$

I used to love going to Dr. Nickles office. My husband is a physician, so I have an understanding and appreciation for their hard work. Unfortunately, last month we had a particular situation where Dr. Nickles reacted extremely unprofessional. I have decided to have my primary care appointments elsewhere. This is a note of precaution for anyone looking for a primary care facility in the York area.
