He is phenomenal at what he does
Dr Luders started my visit by telling me he doesn’t prescribe pain meds and isn’t there to help me get disability, he’s there to FIX the problem. He repaired what another surgeon had done with a fusion at L4-L5 & 18 yrs later it’s still working great. If you genuinely want healing, he’s your guy. If you are significantly overweight you’ll have to lose some weight and if you’re a smoker like I was you’ll have to quit. Dr Luders will give you the best chance at repairing your spine but you have to help yourself as well.He was also very good at patiently explaining everything to my husband to make sure he completely understood. Following my surgery, he was doing rounds with a group of doctors and they were debating something about my drain tube but I was impressed with how he did not talk down to the other docs. He is an incredibly intelligent Neurosurgeon and is one of the best in his field. He has every right-opportunity to be curt but he isn’t. His staff is amazing as well.

Spinal fusion with cage, rods and screws
I had a spinal fusion with a cage and rods and screws (L5/S1) in 2013, and I have been very pleased with the results of Dr. Luders & Dr. Hedeman's surgery. I have recommended them to others.

Suffered back pain for 25 years following damage that was done playing hockey. When the pain finally became unbearable, I scheduled a consult with Dr. Luders. He was very informative and performed a multi-level laminectomy. I used pain meds sparingly and stopped taking them altogether about 3 weeks after surgery. I returned to work 12 days following surgery. 5 weeks later, I am completely pain-free. Best I've felt in 25 years. Physical Therapy involved nothing more than a consult and a few at-home exercises to stretch the muscles. I'm 57 years old and plan to play softball again this summer! Awesome job Dr. Luders!

He is arrogant and cold. Instead of doing an MRI, he thought he knew best and did a left SI Joint fusion. When I was in worse pain 2 weeks post surgery I went to an orthopedic doctor who did am MRI and saw distinctly that I needed a left hip replacement. I suffered needlessly because he thinks he knows it all. I would not recommend him.

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Luders or his staff. I am now going in for a 2nd fusion to correct his work and fix more that has come about. Would not recommend him. I actually spent less than 10 minutes total with this surgeon throughout the whole process. I have been told directly from nurses who are in the operating room with him that they "understand" my concerns about him. His office assistant is about as rude as they come!

I had a Lumbar Laminectomy with Partial Diskectomy done by this Dr. in January of 2005. He did a great job and I have been free of sciatica since. Another family member also developed the same disk problem and I brought her to him as well.

I had a SI joint fusion for lower back pain with Dr. Luders and its been over 2 years now. I woke up in extreme pain down mu left leg. Rather than listen to me he avoided me in the hospital. When he got me in to his office he screamed at and belittled me. There are many cases of this same issue and the doctors go back in and pull the pins out a little bit to take pressure off the nerve. No I would not recomend Dr Luders to work on a person much less than a dog.

Dr. Luders was direct and to the point about my condition. I spent several months on drugs just trying to survive my pain. If you are looking for a doctor to sympathize and coddle you then find someone else. If you want your pain gone and excellent results then Dr. Luders is who you want for your surgery. I waited over a year before writing this review because I wanted to make sure my results were real. They were. THANK YOU DR. LUDERS !!!
