After waiting 8 months for an appointment I finally see him. I am currently medicated for hypothyroidism and at the time had 1 nodule on my thyroid. At the appointment he said I don't have thyroid problems. I need to see a nutritionist and learn to eat right. After explaining that is not the issue he decides to test me for Cushings, which tests says that's not the problem, bloodwork shows my tsh is off and I had another thyroid ultrasound that says I have a 2nd nodule. Guess what he says NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOU SEE A NUTRITIONIST. Being overweight is not the reason its the symptom!!!!

Diabetes Doctor
I feel as though the doctors in this practice have given my life back to me. I came to the office with an AIC of 12.9 which is incredibly dangerous. I now have lost 100 lbs and have an AIC of 5.9. I couldn't have done it without them.

A truly excellent doctor
I have been seeing Dr. Justin Fontenot since 2008 for osteporosis. Before that, the G.P. I had been seeing for about 10 years had me on risedronate daily, and a dexa scan taken during that time showed a bone mass of -2.5 and lower - osteoporosis. I changed G.P. and she immediately sent me to Dr. Justin Fontenot, who put me on zoledronic acid. My bone mass began to increase steadily over the next few years. I was switched to denosumaab injections which I continue to take. About two years ago, I was told that my bone mass had improved to such an extent that I no longer have osteoporosis, but osteopenia. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Fontenot for his wonderful care.

I never wanted to leave this review but...
My visits have mostly been pleasant with both Dr. Fontenot and Ms. Paula. Years ago, I did read my visit notes stating I have "body dysmorphic disorder" in shock. I am a woman and was unhappy and uncomfortable in my body. My issues were caused by diabetic meds/insulin and I was not offered help. I was blamed. But, my main problem was always the staff and wait times at this facility. It was bad at old location and worse at their "new" location. The staff is probably the worst staff I have ever come across in my 27 years as a diabetic. The nurses are rude and want to act like they are the smartest people that know everything and constantly condescend to you whether it be in the office, on the phone or on messaging online. They know nothing about handling insurance companies to help patients with diabetic meds. Stay clear from this office. If you are a long term patient, they will throw you away without a thought if you complain too much.

Who is hiring the staff here?
I was a patient of Dr. Fontenot's briefly before he handed my care over to whoever happens to be his NP (he's had 3 in the ~10 years I've been a patient). The last time I even spoke with him was after my hospitalization, and he just admonished me before moving on to another patient. Initially, his nursing staff was phenomenal. Unfortunately, his current staff gate-keeps all care communications and does not know how to navigate basic insurance forms. If you're fine managing your own condition without relying on any staff to return your calls and messages in a timely fashion, then this clinic is perfect for your needs. I've had several appointments with the NP that saw me informing her about how badly her staff managed me as a patient. I've left appointments without an actual exam because of housekeeping issues. I don't remember the last time they even checked my feet, and I'm a Type 1 diabetic. Do yourself a favor and find a provider who hires decent staff and actually listens.

Dr. Fontenot - Knowledgeble/ Experienced
Dr. Fontenot was very attentive to my needs and concerns with a very elevated TSH after having bilateral cataract surgery. He listened carefully to my symptoms and story and diagnosed it right away. I was much relieved after my visit and will return in 6 weeks for lab work. Staff was very courteous and wait time was very short. Thank you so much.

Wait time is ridiculous and can't get in
Held on phone for 10 plus mins to be told I need a referral. When I told them I don't but I had a prior Endo, they told me that I would need to send my records, they would review and call me back to set it up. Ridiculous

Dr Fontenot saved my life. I had a very large pituitary tumor which was causing me to lose my eyesight and an aneurysm in my internal carotid artery. If it wasn’t for his expertise in his field the outcome might not have been the same.

I quit Dr. Fontenot after realizing he treats hypothyroidism based on the TSH alone. Kept changing my medication dose as soon as I was symptom free based on the TSH which made me sick again. He's clueless. Had to find a naturopath who gets it. Under Fontenot my hair was falling out, I felt horrible. No wonder everyone in his waiting room is fat, balding, and sick.

Very personable, however, he didn’t listen to the patient and instead leaned on book sense because he wasn’t familiar. Every BODY is different and functions differently. Needs to admit when his knowledge isn’t enough. Last appt I saw him, he apologized profusely when he heard I had to go to the ER because I discontinued a med he said wasn’t necessary and I had to get an emergency IV to replace the lack. I told him I couldn’t trust him because he couldn’t trust me and that he shouldn’t treat his patients according to what was in a book, alone. I’d suggest going to him for what he specializes in and not just to see him as an endo like I did. Wait times are horrendous. Otherwise, great place.

Dr Fontenot has been a wonderful physician and very attentive and caring. He has been treating and monitoring my thyroid tumors for a couple of yrs now. Even when he had suffered an ankle injury and was walking in a "boot" he was professional, caring, and thorough. I have had a good experience with the staff as well, especially one of his nurses. Happy to recommend.
