Dr. Mussomeli Is one of the worst health care providers I have ever seen. He has zero compassion and empathy. I was referred to him after a brain injury and he diagnosed me incorrectly and when questioned was rude and said I was to see the PA moving forward. He had zero interest in helping me with my cognitive issues whatsoever. If I could give him zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and seek care elsewhere. I am now seeing a neurologist that is doing their job and genuinely cares about the patient, me.

Visit rushed. Left office without a diagnosis or follow up visit scheduled. Was later told by another doctor that I had a visit scheduled for four months later.

Exceptional in all aspects of doctor/patients.
Great memory, patient first, and very personable. His step by step approach to treatment is refreshing and something other doctors should try. I lost count of the times he asked me. "what do you think?".

Find a different neurologist
Went to see him about balance issues. After putting a tuning fork to my feet, he said I probably have peripheral neuropathy. Then I was sent down the hall for an EMG test which painful and expensive. After he didn’t explain the results, I asked and he said “yep, neuropathy “ and left. No discussion about treatment or anything. Like I said, find someone else.

I think Dr. M is an intelligent man, working in a broken system. He is all business, but he is the victim of overspeciallization. In medical school, I took a class called Evidenced Based Medicine. Basically, it was showing how doctors could stay up with the latest research, peer reviewed, in their chosen field. I have not met one doctor that appears up-to-date on research (hence, I always print out research papers for them to read before my appointment). I did not do that with Dr. M and should have. I told him upfront what I thought my diagnosis was and I was right, confirmed with subsequent testing. All he said in our final vist was, "Yes, you have XXXXX and there is nothing you can do about it but control the pain." Well, that was wrong. There is a lot I can do about it besides take possibly harmful prescriptions to control the pain. He might get away with this type of dialog with someone else that does not know much about it, but not me. In a rut? I say "yes".

He has clinical knowledge. However, if you are seeking compassionate care, clearly this is not the doctor for you. He has all the compassion and warmth of a bucket of frozen doorknobs. If at all possible,I will not see him again. Plus, I genuinely believe, he doesn't care about his patients. He was to order an MRI for me. It took him over 3 days to do so, despite numerous phone calls, and the assurance it would be done within 2 days. When I tried to make an appointment, he was available within 10 days. The other neurologist was not available for weeks. Maybe, this is why. Also, he scheduled me for another test. For the same symptoms he ordered an MRI. All well and good. The MRI ultimately led to surgery. The surgeon who performed the surgery, and the surgeon from whom I received a 2nd opinion both told me that I didn't need this other test. Received multiple calls to reschedule, even though, I had requested that he discuss the matter with at least 1 of the surgeon. He refused.

If a patient is seeking compassionate care, this is not the physician for you. He is brusque and condescending in every respect. He belongs in research with lab mice and not in a clinical setting providing patient care. If referring primary care physicians REALLY care about their patients, they will not refer to this physician based on my firsthand experiences with him.
