Dr. Justin Paltrowitz, MD

Dr. Paltrowitz is knowledgeable about many conditions. He has the expertise to diagnose and treat these conditions to provide the best possible outcome. His guidance is invaluable. I find Dr. Paltrowitz to be respectful of my beliefs and my wishes for my family.

Dr. Paltrowitz knows a lot about the things he prescribes, and has memorized many details about them (ex. '1.5% of people experience (X) side effect on this medication'). He is very straightforward and nonjudgmental, and does not get stuck on any specific way of doing things. He is perhaps too relaxed about prescribing new medications at times (ex. 'if you feel this way, why don't we prescribe (X) and see what happens?'), even ones that are hard to wean off of, so you have to be ok asserting yourself when you don't think you need something. If you want a doctor who is very knowledgeable about various medications and gives you a lot of agency to make decisions with him about your treatment plan, Dr. Paltrowitz is for you. If you want someone who is hesitant to prescribe medications unless absolutely needed, or someone who doesn't need your input much about medication choices, maybe look elsewhere.

Did not see that our child was having an adverse reaction to a medication.

I have used Dr. Paltrowitz's services for 3 of my children for several years, each for other problems. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a teaching approach. He gives a lot of information and makes mental health very easy to understand. As a psychiatrist, he prescribes medications. He listens and asks lots of questions and knows the meds inside out. Every moment in the visit is well spent. This is the best decision I could have made for my kids.

This doctor was completely unprofessional. He started my son on medications that had him go into a behavioral crisis. I waited two days for him to call me and instruct me on what to do and what I received was an incredibly unprofessional doctor that told me that I had one minute and “put that kid in a hospital”. My child is autistic and how this individual handled this situation is scary and completely unacceptable. If you have a child, I would strongly advise against seeing this doctor.

One of the best psychiatric’s in Bergen County. Beyond knowledgeable and truly will care and not rush you during your visit.

A neighbor recommended Dr. Paltrowitz as her best friend's son is being treated by him and has had good results. We brought our sons to get evaluated and he took a good amount of time with us. He's thorough, astute, and has a keen eye. His bedside manner is direct, no-nonsense and to the point. I highly recommend him for your child, adolescent or adult psychiatric needs.

I suffer from Adult ADHD. For years, I struggled professionally and personally, due to lack of focus and follow through on tasks. Unfortunately, I was too embarrassed to schedule a formal appointment. Dr. Paltrowitz is the only doctor I have ever not dreaded visiting. His breadth of knowledge, expertise and demeanor are unparalleled. One of best decisions I have made. His advice and insight are above and beyond. His office manager, Megan, is kind and welcoming. I'm a patient for life.

My son who started going to Dr. P at the age of 14 felt comfortable talking to him, Dr. P explained in detail what and why he was prescribing for my son. He give you a genuine feeling that he cares.
