My Father unfortunately chose this surgeon over an opportunity to go to Sloan for a whipple procedure. He believed in this Doctor, as it would allow my Mother to be with him daily at the hospital rather than the city. Not only did this Surgeon show gross neglect in my father's care he never consulted with an oncologist His standard response to our desperate calls to help my father as his recovery was 3 months long not the 5- 7 days the surgeon had said, was I quote ' I did my Job, its up to the hospital to get him better and to rehab'Well due to no follow up or consideration of chemo prior to the surgery or after as he wasn't showing improvement, my father suffered from August until November to make it out of the hospital, no care plan from this surgeon no follow up on the potential of the cancer coming back NOTHING. My Dad died on Feb 24th, his first meeting with an oncologist was when they told him early January he had very little time and died 6 weeks later.

Dr Bickenbach is the most compassionate and caring Dr I know. Very easy to talk to. He treats you like a person and not only a patient. Great surgeon and would highly recommend him to everyone.

Stay away from this practice!
While I had no issues with Dr. Bickenbach's surgery, his lack of respect for the patient is appalling. The communication from this office is zero. Putting the patient first is NOT their priority. I see this doctor every six months post-surgery for melanoma. I did not receive a call back after I had a CT scan 4 weeks ago, which showed some positive lung nodules. Then, to make matters worse, the office manager is the person who ordered my PET scan after I had called Atlantic Oncology FIVE times in 10 days. Subsequently, I did not even receive a call about my PET scan results. I left messages in the patient portal which went unanswered. The last straw was a nurse practitioner called me to tell me my scan was fine. No offense to the NP, but Dr. Bickenbach did not even have the courtesy to call me? A patient for over 2 years??? Unacceptable. I will be finding a new doctor and a new practice. Go to this office at your own peril.

If there was ever a person in this delicate/personal/challenging business - this is your Doctor. The doc did a Whipple Surgery May 2020 and here I am 9 months later doing well. Every aspect of this man is phenomenal.

I went to Dr. Bickenbach for treatment of a sarcoma on my scalp. He is an extremely skilled surgeon and instantly put my mind at ease. He clearly explained what I had and his recommended approach. I sought a second opinion from a well known hospital in NYC and was much more comfortable with Dr. Bickenbach’s approach and his confidence. His approach was far less invasive and based on modern research while not sacrificing a positive outcome in the slightest. His bedside manor before my surgery was as good as it gets. He calmly explained everything and followed up immediately with my wife with a detailed explanation (she couldn’t be there in person because of COVID restrictions). The staff at Morristown hospital couldn’t have been more caring and professional as well. I highly recommend Dr. Bickenbach.

I would highly recommend Dr. Bickenbach. I went to him for removal of a large mass under my arm which tested positive basil cell carcinoma. He explained to me exactly what he had to do and scheduled the surgery as soon as he could. He performed the procedure and everything went smoothly. The entire staff of his and the surgical center were fantastic. I would highly refer him to my family and friends.

I was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer. After being treated with chemo therapy and radiation, the next step was surgery. I asked my oncologist to recommend a highly qualified and well skilled surgeon. I am extremely pleased that Dr. Kai Bichenbach was recommended to me. Dr. Bichenbach methodically and accurately explained my surgical procedure. He is a warm, caring, personable surgeon. I am cancer free today because of the exceptional treatment, surgery and care I receive from Dr. Bichenbach. I highly recommend him and am thankful for his expertise and care that I receive.

Dr. Bickenbach is the greatest. I was diagnosed with melanoma in April of 2018 after a biopsy by my dermatologist. The doctor and I were both shocked when the report came back that it was melanoma. I was then referred to Dr. Bickenbach who took care of me. He has an incredible way about him. He is that strong, confident type who is very humble and communicative and reassuring. He is extremely caring and patient to answer all of your questions. He performed the surgery and SLNB at the same time and about a week later everything came back clean. He then instructed me to see him twice a year for two years and to see my dermatologist every 3 months for quite some time. I am coming up on a year since the surgery and all is great. I am very thankful to live in this area where there are wonderful doctors who not only know what they are doing but communicate in such a way as to reassure the patient.

This was my first experience with any type of health condition. I was even more worried especially with it being a melanoma and needing surgery. From the moment I met Dr. Bickenbach I trusted him. Surgery went well and took some time to rest. A few weeks after surgery I had a stich that didn't dissolve Dr. Bickenbach took me right in and took care of it in less than a minute... A great doctor with a professional yet friendly and comforting demeanor.
