Dr. Kaly Kao, MD

This doctor is rude and uncaring. He pretty much just dismissed me and my pain.

I was severely injured in a car accident and Dr. Kao put me back together. I saw MANY docs and he’s the only one who hung in long enough to figure my injury out and then to greatly relieve my pain. The injury to my neck is permanent, but again, he has relieved my pain so much that I don’t need pain meds. He also treated me for Meralgia Parastetica, a condition where a pinched nerve in your hip causes your thigh to feel like it’s constantly on fire. He fixed that, too! He’s brilliant, extremely thorough, has great bed side manner, responds to messages faster than any doctor I’ve ever dealt with - and there’s been many - and is always very accommodating when severe pain is concerned (meaning he will get you in to see him right away). I can’t recommend him highly enough - simply put, he’s great in every way!

Dr. Kao refused to help me with my struggle with back pain. He was cold, would not give me injections or medication to alleviate the pain, although I have had decades of compassionate caring physiatrists and neurologists who did care. His only advice is to go to a pain center, and read a book on stretching. Most uncompassionate.

after reading a couple of reviews i had my doubts about my up coming visit . all i can say is don't believe every thing you read on the internet . my experience was good , he was what i look for in a dr . he listened , informative and seemed to have a good understanding of how to proceed . i know we all have different experiences , mine was good . i have an upcoming appointment and if something changes will let you know for now thumbs up

I won’t return to Dr Kao. Experiencing pain from spinal stenosis and peripheral neuropathy. Gives me epidural and pain actually increased. Dismissed increased pain and dismissed possibility that it had aggravated neuropathy pain. I spoke to two other doctors who said it was a real possibility. Instead of moving forward with ablation as he had previously discussed he said I need an implant to control pain and referred me to Stanford. I will find another willing to thoroughly discuss options.

I am so happy my primary care md referred me to Dr. Kao and his staff. For 10 years I had been struggling with misdiagnosed hip and leg pain since the aches were so atypical for what other doc's thought was the issue. Within 1 appt and an MRI, I was properly diagnosed and consequently treated for a lumbar issue which was causing referred pain. I have received great care and compassion from Dr. Kao and his PA, including extremely prompt call backs, thorough explanations of issues, etc.

Met with Dr. Kao to review my MRI. He did explain it thoroughly to me. He complained about my insurance taking up to 2 weeks to get approvals for an epidural [it took 4 days]. Oh and he offered to do the epidural for $10,000 if I didn't want to wait for insurance! I explained it takes 3 weeks to get an appt. with him. Increased pain after epidural so I went in to see him. Told me to "wait and see" what happens and charged me $400 for the visit. I won't go back. Pain is not his problem.

I saw dr. Kao 4 my back pain in january . He gave me a shot of cortisone. Now i,m pain free and back 2 work. Thanks, dr.kao! ??
