Dr. Karen Toujouse, MD

She attended to me after the birth of my 2nd child. My blood pressure was consistently rising, & I had been readmitted to the hospital with postpartum pre-eclampsia after the birth of my 1st child. She told me I would be sent home the next day anyway, because 'women always recover better at home.' I actually had a panic attack in the hospital advocating for myself. I complained about her & asked for a second opinion. Surprise, surprise--the 2nd opinion was that I should be in hospital for another 5 days because of my blood pressure and patient history. No one should have to advocate so hard for appropriate care after giving birth. Postpartum pre-eclampsia kills women. Karen Toujouse should not be anywhere near women's healthcare.

When I was about to return to work from Mat leave I expressed to her my feelings of anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I called the state of MA and they told me if I wasn’t ready mentally to have my DR extend my mat leave and it would not be a problem. She told me unfortunately bc I wrote that I was “fine” at my six week visit that she couldn’t extend my leave. (All she had to do was adjust the date). I then asked her for a nursing exemption for jury duty and she refused that as well. She told me “the system sucks but she can’t help me” when she in fact had every ability to do so. She has no business working in women’s health when she has no desire to actually help any of us.

Wonderful, very caring and concerned doctor! I would totally recommend her!

Impersonal and somewhat patronizing. Does not get to know her patients. Not recommended for someone looking for personal, individualized care from their doctor. Don’t let the accent fool you.
