Dr. Katherine Destefano, MD

Excellent Doctor. Very caring, supportive, and professional. She is honestly the best physician one could have.

I've been seeing Dr. Destefano for about 4 years. She's always very friendly and thorough and takes the time to answer all my questions. She's the 3rd MS doctor I've seen and by far the best.

After reviewing Patient Rights & Responsiblities @ Website she handles situations with zero empathy forgets patients are the customer!!! She did not respect my wishes. She is not empathetic & has a cold bedside manner. I agree with the a previous review in regards to her not treating patients MS symptoms though this time made me extremely uncomfortable trying to requiring me to have 2 providers in my visit during a covid pandemic when I wanted to be safe & refused. This has Violated my patient rights, I Decide who I see. DR Distefanio told me If I wanted my appointment her & a fellow & if I didn’t want that basically too bad! Or take a video or reschedule after waiting 6 months but not being seen in 2 yrs I was forced to cancel my in person visit because it is important to have an actual complete neurological exam because of my MS & though I was told I wanted an in person exam I was required to be seen by a fellow & Dr Distefanio in person. why couldn’t the fellow zoom into visit

We waited 6 months to get into the Yale MS Center to see Dr. DeStefano. We were so excited and hopeful because my husband suffers daily with MS. After a 3 hour visit, Dr. DeStefano didn't offer to treat any of his symptoms, and referred him to 5 (yes, five) different doctors for his different symptoms. She was cold, condescending to us and had no concern for my husband as a patient. He was a number to her. We left empty handed, with a laundry list of other doctors to see. Never went back.

I had a great experience with Dr. Destefano, the office staff, and the nurse. She was very thorough, and took the time to go through all my test results with me, explaining what she was looking for, etc. The office staff was also extremely helpful and accommodated all of my requests.
