Dr. Katherine Lees, MD

Dr. Lees was part of the team at Mayo Clinic that diagnosed and surgically removed a tumor on my Larnyx. She saw me several times while still in the hospital and her sincerity was very comforting. She was never rushed and always available to answer any questions. I saw her several more times after surgery and was thrilled when she along with Dr, Ekbom agreed to try and do a Thyroplasty to try and help me speak better. I had been subject to many rounds of radiation on my neck from a previous bout with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and thought I was not a candidate for the Thyroplasty, but Dr. Lees was willing to try and even knowing going into surgery that the results might leave me at worst where I was speech wise she felt there were possible pluses to the surgery. After surgery she seemed disappointed that due to scarring from radiation they could not do as much as normally possible but I will be forever thankful for her determination and compassion and making my speech so much better.
