Dr. Van Kessel has been my OB/GYN for over 20 years and I trust her completely. She was the voice of common sense when I was pregnant with my first baby and was hit with all of the "don't do x, y or z or you can harm the baby" information. I love her no nonsense approach but she also listens and cares. 10+ years after the birth of my last baby, I still appreciate her counsel as I deal with 45-year-old female issues.

Miscarriage poorly managed
Horribly insensitive and terrible bedside manner. Never checked in to see how I was feeling emotionally during or after my miscarriage. Rushed me in and out and was very clinical and cold. Her "care" felt dehumanizing and traumatizing.

Abandoned during pregnancy loss
I do not recommend Dr. Van Kessel. She was my OB for my first pregnancy. Her practice sent me to a maternal fetal medicine specialist for my 20 week ultrasound. When they found a severe fetal abnormality incompatible with life, I expected that my OB would help me navigate. Instead, I never heard from her- literally to this day. She never helped navigate, never offered follow up care, never even offered condolences. Her office helped me fill out my FMLA paperwork, but I never heard from her directly, even when I asked for a phone call.

Amazing doctor!
Dr. Van Kessel is an amazing doctor. She was my OB for my entire pregnancy and delivered my baby via c-section. My recovery has been so smooth because Dr. Van Kessel did a great job. I always enjoyed my appointments with her. She made me feel comfortable. She also works alongside an amazing staff! Her medical assistant is so kind and very prompt with answering questions through the online portal. I highly recommend Dr. Van Kessel if you are looking for a great OB!
